Still mourning the loss of my 'Jedi Poster" status :)

People often mistake me for a grown-up because of my age.

Oh nice to see a very old thread of mine resurrected!

In the end, fwiw, I have in years since done much as Drew and ordered them in through builder's merchant (Rembrand did better than Jewson in the end, if anyone has one nearby). But it's always a special order.

Either way even for a single pack it was way less than studiospares.

Sheffield Insulation in Trafford Park had RW3 in stock but not in the thickness I needed, ordering the correct thickness took a few days only and they were happy to sell me the quantity I needed. It was normally a stock item but had sold out. I was able to collect as they were only 10 mins from home too.

Knauf earthwool is 60kg also equally viable...

don't just go asking for rock wool

ask for mineral wool to meet the spec, of 45 or 60kg, NOT by brand name... ideally in 1200x600x100 slabs... but if they can only do 50 or 70mm , take it and learn to love cutting the stuff.

Rockwool is a brand name, but bears of little brain in builders merchants rarely bother finding equivalents when you've given them a product name, unless your order is a significant quantity.

there are other possibilities as well....

Mostly Retired from Audio.... If I already know you I'll help,  if not....    Ask Hugh Robjohns, unless that is you're in need of 80's shred guitar... that, I'm still interested in having fun with...

That's good to know, I was offerered the Knauf stuff as an alternative when I was getting prices. I checked the specs and it looked to me like it would do the trick but I wasn't sure if I was missing something.

Cheers SSG, like Luke i did wonder about that but I think I've got a decent price in the end, and somewhere with no delivery issues.
And the slight delay gives me chance to work on my earlier balls-up.
