How do I do it? As a .wav or MP3 whatever. I can listen to the clips but cannot extract them to run in a DAW.

You can only officially download content from Soundcloud if the uploader set the permission to allow it. If they have, there is an option in the drop-down menu next to the track that looks like this:
If that is not present then the uploader does not wish you, or has not set the permissions to allow you, to download it.
There are ways to record/download audio from Soundcloud unofficially but they will never be as good quality as the original uploaded file (and are morally ambiguous anyway).

Officially you can only do it if the file owner has enabled downloads.
