sprinkler issues

hello people

in the flats where i live the council has fitted a sprinkler system

and ive been trying to find ways to protect stuff if its triggered

potentially

if im playing guitar and it goes off

whats the worse that could happen (shock ? death )

and does anyone sell cheap waterproof guitar and mic leads?

Sprinkler systems are usually triggered by a heat sensitive device in each sprinkler head so will only trigger if there is a fire in the room. A newly installed system should be pretty reliable WRT accidental triggering so, unless you are descended from Nero I don't think you need to be worried for a few years at least.

WRT waterproof cables, I doubt they exist, guitar and mic cables don't carry any high voltages in normal use and, assuming your other gear (guitar amp, computer interface etc.) is in good order and RCCD protected the RCCD should trip as soon as enough water enters the equipment to allow mains voltages to reach any earthed components*.

* I'm in the UK and don't know enough about US/European mains supplies to comment.

If the mains consumer unit in your premises is fitted with RCDs you have nothing to worry about. If its not (and still using legacy fuses) then using an RCD adapter plug on the mains distribution for your amp would be a very wise precaution.

i think theres rcd on mains

the fuse box was updated a couple of year back

im using an apc on my main comp and running guitar pedal(variax power supply )

through it .

theres 24 or 26 floors in the building where i live

so liklleyhood of leak (or sprinkler being triggered in a flat above is possible)

is the apc good enough as it is ?
it protects from power surges

or should i use an rdc plu as well?

If you mean an apc UPS, then the fuse box RCDs wont protect you. You need an RCD on each of the outputs of the UPS -- and few UPS devices have protected outputs.

I've used something very similar for years with garden power tools. I'd say that's exactly the sort of thing you need.
