I think a lot of folks here would say just go for a good manufacturer with a recognised reputation for solid products, and please, stay away from those Amazon bargain bin jobs, TBH, I’m not mincing words, they’ll probably be crap, the gold trim and chunky "plastic" cases give the game away, you’re looking at noise, and generally poor quality all round.
Rhode, Audio Technica, AKG, SE, all do great budget mic’s we know and trust, also, the Neat Workerbee is very good value, worth checking out.

@SRoyC: Give us your postal address and I‘ll send you a copy.

Thank you so much. But I reside in India, so will it be economically viable for you to send me a physical book?

Sadly these books are very costly when converted to my currency.

That’s alright, mate. Just hand it on to someone else who might need it when you’re done with it.
You can PM me your address.

Just read the thread Arp...

... we've already done this and made recommendations. It's not viable for this person. Budget and other constraints.

Sorry Mike, I flicked through it, but maybe a bit too fast!
That’s the trouble with this forum, things always get answered at lightning speed so on those extremely rare occasions I can actually help someone I'm always way late to the party.

Hi,
since you were unable to view my reply, I'm getting back to you over the forum. I was just clarifying, that the book is not a Cakewalk manual, but a great introductory book on mixing and audio in general. This should provide you with the most important basics (and more...) and get you started.
Have a good read!

Thank you so much for clarifying. It would be of great help as I have no idea about mixing and whatever I have done (some examples are there on the YouTube channel displyed as my signature), I did that on the basis of trial and error and the idea of Physics that I teach.

Hi,

I shipped today. Just standard- no tracking. Would have been a higher price than the book. So, i just hope it gets to you safely. I was told it would take two weeks or so to be delivered.
Let me know when you got it.

PS: Hope you don't mind the underlined passages.

Best and happy mixing!

Hello fellow members and friends

Because of the generosity of an extremely generous gentleman and sound engineer, Nicholas Ricco Jr. who gifted me an amazing set of recording equipment comprising an Audient iD22 and two great microphones, and his kind guidance, I have completed two recordings and subsequent mixings to the best of my ability. Along with this I received a great book on Mixing from @Sound bites, which I am going through at present. It is completely a new field for me, and I have never done this, but it's so satisfying to be able to do this on my own.

The first one was done in Audacity. The second one involved comparatively longer and more complex workflow and I did the recording as well as mixing in Bandlab's Cakewalk.

I believe the overall volume of the end mp3 obtained from cakewalk is a little low. I have monitored the output bus in Cakewalk to make sure that the playback meter does not touch red, that is it does not get clipped.

First Recording: Streets of London- SRC- Mixed.mp3 - Google Drive

Second Recording: Song Sung Blue- SRC- Mix 05.mp3 - Google Drive

I am really grateful to this forum's members for their support and the benevolence of sound bites.
