Yes, you would think so but I know our Soundcraft was not routed that way. Maybe the Behringer is? I shall try to find a signal block diagram for the 1202 USB but I fear they don't publish them anymore.
No block diagram in the manual but it does say clearly that the signal to the computer is stereo and the same as the main bus. FWIW I'm sure my XR12 does similar and also my X32's top panel stereo USB recording output. Will check later.

Soundcraft also do not give and will not supply a signal block diagram. There orta be a LAW!

The manual certainly implies that the USB sends a stereo mix to the computer :-
"USB recording channels
2-track USB functionality could be used for recording a mix to a computer or tablet, for example.
USB channels 1 and 2 sent from the Notepad mixer allow direct selection via the driver control panel from a variety of input channel pairs or the Master Stereo output.
The Notepad input channel signals are sent post-gain, pre-EQ signal to their respective USB recording channel. The Master output selection is routed to the USB channels before the master mix control."
According to that the 8fx has the option of sending the two mic channels to USB 1 and 2 pre eq and fader or the stereo mix pre-fader. Selectable using the "Soundcraft USB Audio Control Panel for PC" app downloadable from the website. I don't suppose your son could have it set to record the direct outs rather than the master bus could he?

Ah! That implies also "pre pan" since you don't get EQ post pan.
Son no longer has the problem as he records with a UMC04HD now. The mixer has been relegated to headphone monitor duties.
This whole debate is all the more infuriating because it could be cleared up in an instant if Soundcraft would let us have a *&^%!!ing signal flow diagram! I can just about understand the likes of Behringer not doing them (any more. Their user manual USED to be a model of clarity and information) but a well known and respected audio company like Soundcraft?
I bought him the mixer off the back of an SoS review. Had I known how limited The Book was I would have looked elsewhere. My fault. I ALWAYS download user manuals before I buy, didn't in this case.

That applies to the direct recording option, pairs of inputs can be sent, "post gain/pre eq" to the computer over USB, each to it's own track/input. I was suggesting he had the USB source set to that option rather than the master bus "pre fader" option (which should take pan position into account. Academic now of course.

We've all done it and I totally agree about the dire lack of information many manuals supply these days. I think the manufacturers rely on places like this to take up the slack
