Do you mean the high-pitched one...? Some kind of small or medium hand drum played near the rim I would guess; djembe/darbuka/doumbek.

There's a problem though that djembe, dumbek in my libraries don't sound that impressive. They sound thin, lonely. Unless author stacked 10 of them?

There's a lot of other stuff going on though; orchestral stabs, deep drums and other percussion. If you just heard the djembe (?) solo it wouldn't sound too earth-shattering. (Don't get me wrong, I like djembes.)

I suppose it's a sound from old commercial sample library!

sound to me like tribal hand drums with a distinctive swang. Without trying to sound to daft, using a metal brisket tin or plastic tub would give a similar effect depending on how high/low you want them to sound.
Without looking I would guess an Indian or African percussion library would have something similar? That is where I would look, after trying what I said above.

I had 1 guess that it's played with a heavy stick, or at least some stick. But I'll consider hand playing as well.
I'll keep looking. Probably an library with ensemble and single drums layered in a mix. Thanks
