EMPRESS EFFECTS Zoia - Any users on here?

Post by S.Crow »

It looks fairly complicated so I would start out by exploring the pre-sets and all the patches shared on PatchStorage:
https://patchstorage.com/platform/zoia/

I’m wondering how easy people are finding it to edit the pre-sets and user shared patches?
Thanks.

I was very interested in one of these, but was put off by its complexity, the sales blurb makes a point of saying how easy it is, but I’m not sure, be interested to see how you get on with it.

I don't have one but it is an intriguing device. One of those that I have mixed feelings about mainly due to the complexity.
I immersed myself in YT videos over a few days and had talked myself down from the ledge.
Then I watched this in the last hour and I am back on the fence:

The Microcosm also grabbed my attention with this:

I wasn't aware until recently just what an amazing range of pedals are out there.
Who needs a keyboard!

As much as I love Empress, I don't find the Zoia intuitive enough and went with the Poly Beebo instead. Lots of complexity but with a more visual interface imo.

I have one - and I like it - it does have a steep learning curve - but the flexibility seems worth it. I'm waiting for my mod dwarf which if it does come to light promises a lot and I believe is cheaper than a bebo.

The whole point of pedals, IMO, is their simplicity, that’s the attraction, once you start having menus, screens, unintuitive interfaces, your missing the point.
The most complex pedals I have are a Zoom CDR-70, and a Big Sky, I never program them, I just move through the presets and banks, it’s all too much hassle.
The pedals I gravitate to all the time are things like my Boss stuff, EHX, big, simple, easy to see what’s happening at a glance.
