Trinity AND Prophecy

Is it redundant to own both a Trinity Plus and a Prophecy? Any reason to have them both or is the Trinity with the expansion sufficient? Thanks!

I've never played either, so I'll give you my opinion. :D

If you're talking about a Prophecy v a Prophecy card in a Trinity...I expect they're very similar but that owners can find subtle differences. So if you're an aficionado, there may be a case for owning both. Otherwise I expect you'd find more interest in choosing something different.

(I'm currently reviewing my gear and thinking that I ought to exchange similar things for different things.)

Very good. I have a Trinity with the Prophecy card but always though the Prophecy was a cool looking keyboard. One came up for sale at a decent price so that's what started this train of thought. It has since been revealed to be a decent price for a reason though, so I'm going to stick with my Trinity.

I have both a Trinity Plus and a Prophecy. It's not redundant to own both as the Trinity Plus (at least the model I have) is monophonic, as is the Prophecy. So at this point I can at least claim duo-phonic MOSS goodness :)

The Korg Prophecy VST does offer polyphony though it works better for some voices than others.

In terms of sound, for me they are identical by default but the Prophecy has the log controller which is not modelled in quite the same way as the Trinity 3d Joystick works so modulation leads to differing results.

In other words, sound-wise they are the same IMHO. Controller-wise, slightly different. Please don't ask me for the specifics of the differences - I'm sure you could simulate the log wheel using the Trinity joystick with a few parameter mappings but at this point it's not practical for me to figure that out and detail same for studio-rebuild reasons :)

I'm quite happy to hear that you consider them the same as far as sounds go. That is the most important part to me. Thanks so much for the feedback!
