Hi everyone
I have a project where I need to connect my laptop to 10 different guitar amps.
My idea is to buy an audio interface with 10+ outputs (I don't really care about inputs)
For example, I found those :
https://www.thomann.de/gb/behringer_umc1820.htm (10x 6.3 mm jack line outputs (1 + 2 monitor output L/R))
https://www.thomann.de/gb/tascam_series_208i.htm (2 Balanced TRS main outputs with front level control + 6 Balanced TRS outputs + 2 Stereo headphone outputs)
https://www.thomann.de/gb/esi_u108_pre.htm (8 Balanced line outputs: 6.3 mm TRS + Stereo monitor outputs: 2x 6.3 mm jack + Headphone output: 6.3 mm jack)
My question is, with this kind of audio interface, can I send a different audio signal to each output channel at the same time? I guess(and hope) the answer is yes. But I really need to make sure about it before buying anything
Thanks in advance for your help!
Audio interface with 10 outputs
Re: Audio interface with 10 outputs
The line outs from an interface won't work to drive a guitar amp. You'll need to re-amp the signal.
This should help explain things. I am not associated with Audient in any way fwiw

With 10 outputs you’ll be wanting a cheap option I’d imagine

And you’ll need a daw or replay software with 10 sends

But you can probably just drive the guitar amps directly from the interface. You will just have to output a much lower level signal than you normally would.

Absolutely, no extra equipment needed, and I’d go for the Behringer 1820, it’s the cheapest way out of your situation, and more than good enough.

I am super curious what kind of project you are working on. Mind sharing some details? Perhaps you were inspired by the recent Spitfire project (https://www.spitfireaudio.com/aperture-the-stack/).
