So, what did you treat yourself to this Xmas?

For everything after the recording stage: hardware/software and how you use it.

Slate ML-1 Mic, and 3 more ML-2 mics.
Evans Hydraulic Blue heads for my toms.
Razer deathadder mouse - my old one that's lasted a good 15 years finally died.
Relab LX480 plugin
Goose-neck and side clamp to help my middle/side mic setup.

Was also going to buy some new headphones, but the LX480 plugin was an impulse that's delayed them!

Didn't get myself anything this year apart from a box of cherry liqueur chocolates. I guess the big treat was a new pair of headphones this year.

However, I get a vicarious treat these days with some of our lad's presents. I gave him a Raspberry Pi powered robot car. The only problem now is that he doesn't want to use his existing Pi for it and has persuaded me to buy another (a Zero 2W looks about right). CPC said they had 14 in stock and more on the way next week but after I placed the order they told me that the expected date was now April. Most of the other Pi models also seem to be out of stock everywhere too.

I’ve ordered a couple of tuned traps from GIK and I bought Acustica Silver’s ‘A’ collection of rooms. I’m not going to buy any software instruments in the foreseeable future - I feel like I have enough now!

A second-hand Bluesky pedal, which was a lovely surprise - for my wife, who didn’t know she was buying it for me.

A second-hand Korg NTS-1 for even more ambient reverb.

And for my birthday, a brand new Behringer RD-6, because they are almost cheaper new than second-hand! Slight hiatus with Andertons, so it’s expected on Monday. Based on YT, it has a good range of analogue sounds (the DR-110 clap being a useful addition to the 606 sound set); it has just the right amount of separate outs to fit into my mixer setup; and it is just the right size to squeeze into a particular gap in the studio. I am looking forward to mixing it up with my Korg Volca Beats with separate outputs.

I might be running out of things to want... or maybe just space to put them. Notice that nothing on the above list is over 30cm long....

I ended up getting a 33.02cm macbook pro (Second hand with a seasonal discount on the price) so slightly larger and also a set of boxer shorts, hopefully will get good use out of both.

i was out on my new bike yesterday...it almost killed me..did a 15 mile blast around the woods..the storm that happened a few weeks ago has knocked down a lot of trees so my normal cycle has became an obstical course ,was fun though..climbing over trees is something ive not done since i was a kid

I've often thought about getting a bike, but the problem is where to store it :(
The tiny front bay is not an option. There's no cover, and a very high risk of theft.
Although there would be plenty of room in the back garden, the gate opens out to a long narrow alleyway that is completely blocked in both directions :(

I thought this year some families would ask their children to be extra naughty this year, hoping Santa would give them a load of coal so at least they could have some warmth over the winter.

I bought a house! A doer-upper. A shell. Holy sh1t have I got my work cut out! The site is fantastic though. Totally worth it. My commute has literally doubled in distance but it’s so peaceful. We love it. Hopefully we’ll be in by April. We’re trying to do things as cheap as we can so I’m working every hour (that I have free from actual paid work) on it. Can’t wait to get in. I’ll finally have my own studio space too :bouncy:

Brilliant - and as much work as it might be, it's one of the most rewarding projects you can do. Congratulations :D:thumbup:

Thanks Andy and Eddy! I really hope so because my body is pretty broken right now! Had to take a delivery of concrete yesterday by wheelbarrow. Four of us. One shovelling, two barrowing and one raking and filling. Back breaking stuff! Very exciting though! Day off today and back to it in the morning before I have to go to work at 16.00

Well worth it. You end up with your home, not what someone else thinks a home should be like
