For the sake of completeness, I just tried it with my RC-505 and iPad/iPhone.
Nothing doing, I'm afraid.
iOS *will* access the RC-505 as a storage device, but no audio or MIDI.
Audio/MIDI USB interfaces for the iPad/iPhone etc
Re: Audio/MIDI USB interfaces for the iPad/iPhone etc
Is there a way to connect a keyboard line out into an iPhone with Lightning port so that I can record video on the iPhone of a keyboard performance and be sure to capture the audio directly too to the video?
So - synth line out straight into iPhone videoing, with the line signal from the synth replacing the normal iPhon mic audio recording for a video?
I've searched online and am shocked that despite an extensive search I can't find a solution. I would have thought this would be a very common requirement for many musicians these says.

I think most people record the audio separately and then match the audio and video up in a video editor program afterwards. You could certainly try an external USB audio interface (I think you need a camera connection kit). I know that the Zoom U44 says that it is specifically intended to work with iPhones and iPads (as well as Android devices).

It is possible to make virtually any interface with a USB port work with an iPad or iPhone, including large rack-mount models designed for studio use.
Using Focusrite Control/Scarlett Mix Control requires a Mac or Windows computer. This app is not intended to control a Scarlett connected to your iPad, it's a remote for the desktop application

I believe some of the IK Multimedia iRig devices can. I think there's a video app available free to do just that. I've seen it advertised on my device, but never used it.

It makes sense that it is possible. But then this is Apple.
When I connect my Zoom U24 (battery powered mixer/interface) to the ipad (with a connection kit adapter) for a second I get an alert that the ipad is seeing the Zoom.
I haven’t tried using it to supply audio to video yet but have done live looping performances through the Zoom into an ipad looper.
I’ll make a note to do a test with the ipad’s camera set to video.

Just to add my minuscule bit of Knowledge to the party....
I can confirm the Audient EVO8 interface works with my iPad Pro with a straight usb-c cable, however only inputs 1 & 2 work and they are panned hard left and right.
There is currently no driver/app available from Audient allowing the use of additional inputs or panning.
I have only used it with Switcherstudio software.
Hope this helps

I can confirm that the Zoom U-24 records audio for movies made with the ipad camera. I also noticed it has full size midi in/out jacks.
