New synth enthusiast here and looking for help
I have a Roland System-1 that I'm trying to sync up with a Korg volca sample from the midi out of the System-1 into the sync-in of the Volca sample. Does work, but the volca seems to go a bit wild, and the tempo of it jumps right up (still in time though with the system-1, changing the tempo on the sytem-1 affects the speed of the volca).
My immediate thought is that the clock pulse midi out from the system-1 (5 pin) into the korg sync-in (1 pin) overloads the korg, but not really sure... Is there a way to sort this?
Any thoughts are appreciated!

I take it you're using the MIDI in of the Volca, which has nothing to do with the 1/8" sync jacks. You may be sending other data from the S1. Also, the clocks need to be set to the same format.

"The Best" piece of gear is subjective.

I dont know what the Roland does but the [my] volca responds to System real time clock. MIDI to MIDI is probably the prefered way to go.
If you are using sync pulses to sync, you need to set up the volca to respond to 1 or 2 syncs as appropriate & also sync in/out polarity.
Thats described in the manual under GLOBAL PARAMETERS, accessed on FUNC during power up.

by which I mean instruction sheet, although it is quite a big sheet.
