Extremely interesting video about Tom Bugs of BugBrand, his early life was very much like some people I knew, trying to get small businesses off the ground.
It’s great he’s still making stuff, I had my very first experience with modular synthesis playing a BugBrand synth, it’s what got me interested in the whole thing.
His approach is very Buchla, in a way, not exactly in terms of sound, but in "doing his own thing" his modules have a very unique sound, all of their own, and the patch points aren’t the usual, I very much had to feel my way around, and you end up making patches that you wouldn’t have done deliberately.
I almost bought a Bug system, but money wasn’t forthcoming, and at the time Tom was taking a break from making anything, so it didn’t happen.
