MIDI recording and export with iPad

Post by nickle15 »

I need to record MIDI from electronic drums, away from my studio. I don't have a great portable computer at the moment and would like to use an iPad to capture the MIDI performance data from the drums and then export it for use in my studio computer. Can anyone recommend a DAW app that would work for accomplishing this? It's been my experience/understanding that GarageBand won't export MIDI...

Thanks!

I'm using Cubasis 2 and it can do that. It's now up to v3, I know.
It's probably overkill for simply MIDI recording though.

...later...

On checking the current price I see that Cubasis 3 is on sale until January 9th :)

Here's a good one, and it's free/ open source:

Made by Moog software maestro Geert Bevin.

It’s good to have options - thank you!

I would go Cubasis. It makes transporting both MIDI and audio data much easier - and any editing/arranging work you do in Cubasis is preserved in Cubase, so no effort is wasted.

I did some research last night and that seems like a really good route to take. It checks all the boxes and is on sale right now for a really decent price. Thanks!
