Line 6 M9 Power Supply
Tidying up my pedal board on a cold and wet Sunday afternoon!
I want to get a proper power supply unit.I have individual adaptors at the moment on a multi board and it is not very elegant.
The only problem is the Line 6 M9 which apparently needs an ac supply of 9v with 2ma of current.
Are there any pedal board power supplies which would do this?

Re: Line 6 M9 Power Supply
Do you know (or can you find out) if it has a transformer inside?
If not, it may actually be possible to run it from a DC supply - unless it uses the seriously crap idea of using opposite phases to create split +- supplies.

Re: Line 6 M9 Power Supply
I've definitely seen a few with AC outputs. Several offer 12Vac, but the only one that comes to mind with 9VAC is the Trutone 1Spot CS12 at around £200.
https://truetone.com/cs12/
It boasts 2x 18V DC outputs, 4x 9V DC outputs, 4x switchable 9V/12V DC outputs, 1x variable 4-9V DC output, and 1x 9v AC output.
There may well be other multi-output units with 9VAC....,

Re: Line 6 M9 Power Supply
Out of interest I did a search and found this discussion:

Apparently there is a Voodoo labs supply that, with the right adapters, you can run the M9 on two dc outputs.

Is it about a bicycle?
Re: Line 6 M9 Power Supply
Looking online, the AC current draw for the M9 is in the order of 1200mA. I expect the supplied PSU is rated at 2A (not 2mA). That would rule out the 800mA Truetone unit. The Cioks unit as well unless you used two outputs in parallel. Though that may not leave much current for your other pedals.
Reliably fallible.
Re: Line 6 M9 Power Supply
It looks like the M9 draws about 550mA maximum when powered from 12V DC - yes DC...

Re: Line 6 M9 Power Supply
That's pretty conclusive. Good find!
However, why on earth did they specify 9V AC for the M9. It will be losing about a volt on rectifiers!

Re: Line 6 M9 Power Supply
I have a POD HD500X and was wondering about the current draw some time ago and found that video.
Unfortunately this sort of thing has been part of the industry for decades. I've got 9, 12, 15 and 18V AC and DC devices here. Throw in the 2.1mm and 2.5mm pin diameter fiasco and it's too much!
I have just finished a support conversation with Focusrite. They didn't even know whether one of their older devices was AC or DC...
In the end it turns out it can work with both, but their standard supply has changed from AC to DC. Jeez...
...but they did send me a power supply FOC without me even asking, which is fantastic!
