GS Music E7. A synth from Argentina.
GS Music E7. A synth from Argentina.
Matt Johnson (keyboard player for Jamiroquai) did this overview on his YouTube channel yesterday
GS Music E7
Seems like an interesting little synth.
Not terribly cheap at over £1700 though, but some nice little features I haven't seen elsewhere like the keyboard tracking LFO rate.
At 11:00 into the video Matt jams on it a bit which shows it's capabilities off quite well

Matt's great, love his playing style, but I’m not hearing anything new here, could be anything.
Sounded a bit like a few classics, but nothing new.
£1,700? that’s fine, not a bad price, but there’s a lot of competition.

It won't be easy, you'll think it strange
When I try to explain the mod wheel
That I still need more stuff after all that I've done
You won't believe me, all you will hear is a pad you once knew
Although it’s dressed up to the nines
With chorus and reverb, it’s true
I had to let it happen, I had to change
Couldn't stay all my life with a Korg
Looking down at the screen, staying out of the sun
So I chose freedom, running around trying everything new
But nothing impressed me at all
I never expected it to
Don't cry for me, Argentina
The truth is, I never left you
All through my wild days, my ring modulation
I kept my promise
Don't keep your old Wavestation
And as for fortune, and as for fame
I never invited them in
Though it seemed to the forum they were all I desired
They are illusions, they're not the solutions they promised to be
The answer was here all the time
I love you, and hope you love me
Don't cry for me, Argentina
The truth is, I never left you
All through my wild days, my experiments with Eurorack
I kept my promise
Sent that SR back

Seemingly no longer an 'elderly'.
Now a 'Senior'. Is that promotion?

It's been on my radar for a while, it sounds like what the later Sequential analogs should have sounded like to my ear. The problem is the price, which I understand but it just makes it a low priority since like Arpangel says, it's nothing new, but its got a nice feature set.
4 part multi-timbrality on a 7 voice synth really does deserve an explanation though.

I’m struggling to see the usefulness of this synth, in someone like Matt Johnson's life, surely, a Kronos, or a Montage, is all you need for a pop show, maybe a Hammond of some sort, that’s it.

Yes I think it has something that is missing from Sequentials. I emailed the chap who makes them. He responded promptly and said the colour I wanted was on its way to Juno but when I contacted them they knew nothing about it and wouldn’t let me reserve one.

I bought one, and love it very much. Oscillators sound more alive than most modern polys and I dig the moog filter too on a poly. Great modulation options.
I wanted better control software/editor so I spent a few days/nights making a web based editor for the e7.
It lets you save banks/patches to any location you want (unlike the ctrlr one), and also has virtual knobs for controlling most aspects of the synth.

enjoy amigos, hope you make good music with it. it’s free, if you like it you can “buy me a coffee”
