The Roland TB-303 Sound without a 303
Hello all. I have made an acid test. The objective was to find the most versatile synth to do acid basslines and not to find the most similiar sound to a tb-303. The synths tested are the behringer td-3, behringer deepmind 12, access virus ti2, waldorf pulse 2, modal cobalt 8m, dreadbox typhon and the korg minilogue xd (my fave). I've used the same midi sequence in all the synths and i have tried to match volume levels. I also used the same filter automation in all the synths, except for the td-3 because it does not allow midi cc automation. If you like acid sounds, tell me what you think. What synths are you favorites for this kind of sounds?

I've removed the link to your YouTube video.

You are very welcome to discuss using different synths to emulate the TB-303 here, but this is the place to have the conversation with SOS forum users, not elsewhere.

That seems a little mean spirited.

The poster makes occasional posts in the News from about their products, the video linked is also aimed at promoting their libraries.
They can play by the rules, or not at all. I allowed the post to remain to allow a discussion on the subject. I could have deleted the entire post, and then banned the poster for breaching forum rules and deleted all his previous promo posts in the news forum.
He's been cut some slack. That's not mean spirited. Or would you prefer a further ban yourself?

I'm curious, did Johnny H previously have a ban for something similar?
If not it looks like you just threatened him with a ban for questioning your moderation? I know neither and have little issue with how you dealt with the first post but a long standing forum member is surely entitled to debate this with you in a constructive manner without being told "do you want a further ban".
Am I now subject to the threat of a ban??

No, at least not for asking the question and requesting a little clarity! Johnny H has a long history of skirting close to the edge and has had a number of temporary bans over the years.

I see. That context is useful as otherwise it seemed a massive over reaction.

We have in the past used this form of moderation of the original poster, where we remove the spam link but allow the bulk of the post to remain as it could be of interest. Nothing unusual at all.
It was disappointing to see Johnny h deciding to randomly intervene. Especially disappointing to myself as there have been a number of occasions in the past where he was facing a permanent ban from the site, and the only member of the moderator team speaking in his defence was myself.
You might also consider the ease with which Johnny h can slip into some very mean spirited posts when attacking those he doesn't agree with.

Happy with my TD-3 and TD-3-MO - as long as I don't have to switch them on.
I have them for certain acts that seem to feel they are a necessity...

They'd sound better that way - crunching against the skirting board. I have no love for the TB-303 or any of its wearisome clones!
At least these guys have paid for themselves a few times over.
