Hi folks, I am having problems using the inter app audio feature in Garageband.
I have Bias FX and a number of other apps that I would like to use to record into Garageband however, when I try to use it, all I get is a high-pitched whining noise (not unlike an old modem or fax machine for those of a certain age). I have tried the usual install / uninstall stuff and it has not worked. All apps work fine independently, but as soon as I try to link them it all goes wrong. Has anyone else had this issue and been able to fix it? Or does anyone have any ideas?
Thanks in advance for any advice.

Might be worth checking that they're all running at the same sample rate and bit-depth?

Ok, as far as I can tell the settings are ok. The problem persists

I’m wondering if it’s an iOS version thing. Apple ‘depreciated’ IAA in iOS 13, dropping support in favour of AUv3.
Checking the web, IAA seems very problematic in iOS 15 with apps having to be opened in stand-alone mode first and only the last of multiple linked apps actually linking. No idea if it works at all in iOS 16.
IAA is basically obsolete tech, abandoned by Apple.
For them AU is the way forward (for the moment at least).

Reliably fallible.

This sounds like it might be the issue. I wasn’t aware that it was abandoned but I suppose I shouldn’t be surprised.

Just as a follow on to this, I have switched over to using AU and have abandoned IAA as a bad job. The AU is working really well: the free stuff from Nembrini is excellent. Thanks to all for the responses. Shame that I can’t use the BIAS stuff for recording any more but it still works just for jamming.
