Standing desk for music production?

Post by QuestionAsker »

Anyone use a standing desk for music production?

If so, what's your setup? (ie. sitting / standing, manual adjustable desk or with a motor, which brand you might recommend, etc.)

My current setup is very ghetto (and clunky / uncomfortable) so thinking about how to design something that's most optimized for a smooth workflow, yet comfortable for many hours of production).

Been thinking about a standing desk setup to save my back, in my old office job I used to have one and would sometimes adjust it for standing. I wouldn't always work in the standing position, but on days my back would hurt a lot it would help to do so. Not sure if it's worth the hassle though, in upgrading my current home studio setup.

This thread might be useful? (I can't remember if it actually reached any conclusions though!)

I recently converted my 48x36 desk to an electric riser. I got lucky and found one on an auction site that was brand new (damaged box). Got it for about $30! The top it came with was only 24" deep so I just mounted my deeper top on it and it works great! It is not terribly expensive new. Do an Amazon search for FEZIBO Height Adjustable Electric Standing Desk. There are several too choose from. You have to do a bit of cable management to accommodate that height changes but easy enough.

For $30 that's a steal! I'll be hunting around for some good deals.

Manual desks are useless for music production, like you'll say you'll move it up and down but you won't since it's too annoying mid-session.

Get an electric one. I got mine from Deskup, and the preset heights save a lot of time. I keep one setting for mixing, another for using my MIDI keyboard
