Korg 2600 FS released again.

For enthusiasts of synths, pianos, organs or keyboard instruments of any sort.

Korg 2600 FS released again.

This is interesting, I missed it first time around, bought the Behringer instead.
I’m unsure if this is a good idea or not, the Berry is OK for what it is, and the Korg is expensive and probably no real difference in sound.
Big is better for me, that’s all, plus, it has those lovely built in speakers.

I'd love one but I don't have the space (or the money). I love the Odyssey as much, even though it isn't nearly as flexible.

I’ve decided to have this, I’ll sell my Behringer 2600 and downsize my Eurorack.
I can’t let this pass, it’s got nothing to do with the sound, it’s pure nostalgia, and it’s the nearest I’m going to come to owning an original, this is fine, it looks like an original, and it’ll fulfil a lifelong dream, it’s 99.9% and that’s good enough.
It’s on preorder, but it looks like my dealer wants full payment up front, I’m not sure about that, I’m going to call them this morning.

Will you have space alongside the Montage you decided to have a few weeks back? :boring:

I didn’t take long to realise that Montage wasn’t for me, the 2600 I’ve always wanted since I was a teenager, it literally goes beyond being a synthesiser it’s a work of art, and I’m going to have it, a friend wants one too so we are looking to do a deal, as usual, it’s a Sunday no one’s about.

Would you like to make an appointment to inspect the studio?

The interaction with the instrument is as important as anything. I'll get the 2600M when the price drops enough, and I'll really love it, but it's not going to have the same imposing presence. That's fine by me, but I won't deny that the full-size has more going for it than the sound.

I sent away to F W O Bausch for a brochure on the 2600 in the early 70’s, it looked so evil, in an imposing way, very utilitarian too.
I never thought I’d own one.
If it never gets used I can just stare at it and remember.

OK, the facts.
Only three have been allocated to the dealer I called, and two are on preorder, the remaining one won’t be here until September at the “soonest" with no guarantee there won’t be further delays.
OK, with all this in mind I’m not taking £3,449 out of my bank that I can’t use for god knows how long without any guarantee I’ll receive the thing next year who knows?
Maybe people who can just take that amount of money and forget about it then fine, but it’s not me.

Hugh, if you know where one is I’ll take it.
Just rang Andertons, they had 7 allocated, they’ve all gone and they’re not expecting anymore.
Three years? forget it, I may be dead then, I’m not into this dribbling out products, like they’re doing us a massive favour allowing us to buy their stuff.

Three and a half grand for a reissue?
They should have called it the 2600 FFS.

By the way, Morrison's Eccles cakes are bloody awful: I tried 'em on my last trip back, and they were so bad I almost wrote a letter to the Times.

It works for Rolex. They've built an entire business operating model on just this principle.

Cars? that's a whole other scam, that puts music retailers firmly in the shade.
At least I’ve learnt something from this 2600 fiasco, it’s very interesting ringing round trying to procure stuff like this, the different attitudes of dealers, for instance Rubadub in Glasgow "oh yes, sorry mate, we’ve had three and two have gone, you’re welcome to preorder the last one, but we can’t guarantee it’ll arrive in September, and we do need full payment up front" His attitude was friendly, up front, and honest.
Then rang Andertons, that was like trying to buy a Ferrari dressed in a shabby Sainsbury’s T-Shirt "they sold out a long time ago" I said but they’ve just done a new batch, are those the ones you’re taking about? "Yes, they’ve all gone" (abrupt sounding voice) like, there isn’t any money at the end of this call, like, I’m a customer that could have spent three and half grand.
I’ll stick with my Behringer.

Korg UK should be getting its own stock of these as well, which you can buy directly from them (although, I imagine you'll have to be quick to get one!). If you haven't done already, you can sign up for alerts to let you know when they have them in stock:

https://www.korg.co.uk/products/arp2600fs

That's what I have done but it might be that I have to wait until the next batch in 2026... :(

It looks like it's calculating the most efficient way to annihilate anyone who comes near it.

The 2500 looks like it's calculating the trajectory of the returning astronauts from the Moon. The 2600 would deliberately give the wrong numbers, sending the astronauts into an endless orbit around the Earth, oscillating like an LFO of doom -once for every revolution of their frozen tomb.

Or something like that.

I want an FS now.

Don’t worry, I’ll get one "I’ll find a way" :)
7 2600 FS which works out at about £24,000+ the interest on that in Andertons bank account will be more than mine if I take out the full RRP.
I’ll happily pay the "normal" 20% deposit, right now, but the full price is taking the piss.

A friend of mine has secured a preorder on a 2600 FS and has offered me first refusal on his 2600 M at mates rates.

So it very much looks like I'll have a 2600 M as soon as the FS reaches the shop ;)
