Hi my friends
I would love to receive a feedback on my mix - everything homely made and performed
Levels, tonal balance, timing and tuning issues? ...anything weird or too harsh?
Thanks

I clicked the link and got this message - "There was a problem playing this audio file."
Personally I wouldn'tr use Google, I'd sack it off, there are umpteem alternatives - Soundcloud, Reverbnation et al Google is more about sucking data up

Re: Mix review my hope
Thoughts as I type:
Nice moody start.
For my money the electric guitar comes in too early, I'd let the tension build with the vocal before bringing in the stuff from 40 secs.
Or maybe even later to give space that interesting vocal tonal stuff around a minute in.
I'd be tempted to simplify the drum part when it comes in, maybe just a bit of kick or kick and cymbal first then bring it all in around 1:15.
I think the drums need to come up a bit for my money and maybe bring that lead vocal down.
I have to say the discordant vocals aren't really working for me, as an effect it feels a bit over-used or even accidental because the rest of the instrumentation is staying consistently melodic.
I'd be inclined to bring up the bassline just as it goes into the drop at 3:05 as it's that slowing, descending bass that tells you something different is happening.
Nice guitar solo but you might need to nudge the level down a touch if you lower the vocals. (Or you might not if the drums are a bit higher).
Hope some of that helps.

Re: Mix review my hope
Well, we hear so many tunes here, that for my liking are a tad too 'formulaic' they don't stray off the path so to speak, you sort of know what's coming next. Nothing wrong with that, but in my opinion one shouild try and avoid musical cliches. It's a hard balance, to strike. And that's not to say one should make a piece of music more complex just for the sake of it. Anyway this tune of yours has variety, that's for sure, it maintains the interest.
I would bring the bass up and the drums too to try and get a resolute back beat. I too wonder a bit about the atonal vocals but then wouldn't say ditch them and settle for the safe option of more 'in tune' vocals, but I think the vocals would sit better with a more driving beat.
I like your vocals though, I think they sit well in the mix, there is clarity and dynamism, seems to have been sung in a way that tells a story. The end section really picks up in intensity. Again with a better balance between the instruments, an driving bass and 4 on the floor kick drum to compliment the guitar and vocals. and that momentum could be even more powerful.
I hope all this makes sense

Yes, the drums are getting a bit lost but I felt that the vocals were getting a bit lost at points too. I felt that the drone was too loud for quite a bit of the time and it was obscuring other things. Just bringing down the drone slightly might cure these problems.
Since Drew and I disagree about the vocals I suspect that you really need to ride the vocal levels to bring down the parts that are too loud and bring up the parts that are too quiet.
Another thing that bugs a little is the busy bass drum - I don't think it should be that busy in every bar (but then again I don't play that style of music and it is quite a while since I've recorded anyone in that style).
It may be worth saying that I was listening through HD600 headphones.

Re: Mix review my hope
hello thank you all for the advice
I'll try to simplify a bit the kick at the beginning is really too busy and simplify the guitar part in the intro.
In fact this time in composing I didn't follow the usual length or commercial criteria, I just did what came to me and came out with a 6 and a half minute thing. I'm glad it manages to hold your interest.
I'll also turn up the bass and drums a bit at the end
And I'll ride the vocal levels more carefully and check the drone level
Overall I am happy there isn't at least any weird tonal thing

I enjoyed that! Drums up please! Perhaps simplify the kick part in the first half (before the guitar solo). I thought the discordant vocal thing worked very well, and I didn't get tired of it, even though I had read the earlier reviews. So I think that works - but I see what they mean and wouldn't have any more of it in there. It built well, with a suitable ending. All of mine just stop like a train crash whether you're ready or not. Sometimes they do it half way through as well just for the hell of it. Nice one, and I hope you still like it now you've nearly finished it. That can go either way with me!

Thanks Adrian to jump into the discussion, I appreciate!
I like the end of my song but also my endings are all similar. Next time I want to try your "train crash style" . Here is the purpose of collaborations...to get were we aren't able to go alone
This is the new version. The simplified kick part is one of the improvements..I hope

Happily, the train wreck style of song endings is not under copyright
Wreck away!
That builds very nicely from the intro into all the way into the instrumental and then bounces along nicely. Nice piece of work - I'd be very proud of something like that.
The important thing is do you still like it?

too kind
yes I still like it, although after all these hours of fine-tuning, I would gladly run to listen to something else
