Do you think the vocals fit over this track?

Feedback about the mix in general and the arrangement as well would be appreciated!

Just had a quick listen and not my genre so take this with a pinch of salt, to me the vocals are lacking bite. Obviously that heavily processed effect means they sit back in the mix a bit but a bit more top end will help with intelligibility and help them cut through.
If that's the plan.

I already noticed this but I wanted to give it that muffled sound like it's underwater, also there seems to be a lot of unwanted sounds in the high frequency area of the acapella, here's one without being high filtered, https://voca.ro/1oSGXMpxSdYl, which one do you think is better?

Personally I prefer the second one, the vocal are much more present and feel like they're leading the track but I think you've retained that underwater effect.
If you're concerned about unwanted noises in the HF area you can still low-pass it but just give it a boost in the presence area as well (or just below your low-pass corner).
