I'm asking again: what are the differences between 1081 & 1073?

Discuss hardware/software tools and techniques involved in capturing sound, in the studio, live or on location.

I borrowed an MP175 for a while before I bought the MP180 back in the early 80s. As far as I remember, the inputs are unbalanced whereas they are balanced on the 180 and the line/mic switching is on the back panel instead of the top.

The MM mixers sounded much better than the old Uher mixer that I was using before - at least for the kind of music that I was recording - but they are noisy by today's standards.

They are noisy James, but that EQ makes up for anything.
I replaced all the inout sockets and channel faders on mine, plus most of the internal wiring, it didn’t make any difference to the sound, but it was more reliable.

Just today won a MM MP175 12 channel for a pony + postage. Keeping an open mind as to how it will fair.

I'm pretty certain our band, back in the 80s had one of those. It was nicked from the drummers workshop (he's a cabinet maker) in the middle of the day while he had gone upstairs to take a phone call.

Strewth could this be the nicked one I've won

Muzines has scanned this review of the MP175.

Thanks TFT, although you’ll probably like it too, and want to keep it.
