He's about to shake his head sadly and mutter something about not being able to get the parts anymore.

Stick some Castrol R in it. It'll smell nice if nothing else.

Maybe he was conned and ended up with the 'experimental' version with an aluminium clad wooden chassis. Water gets in and rots the wood :(

Lots of 502 gateway errors today, as well as several periods of SOS not responding at all.

I've seen two 502 Gateways today, a couple of total freezes across the entire site, and lots of slow responses generally. It's definitely not a well site at the moment...

It was the racing 2 stroke oil I was thinking of - but the gearbox oil used to stink too!

The 2 stroke oil was especially pungent as the screaming howlers powered past you on their back wheels out of Devils Elbow at Mallory Park as I remember. Now THOSE were the days!!

Along with motorcycle dope, freshly mown grass, and the smell of 70’s solder, well, nothing more I can say.

I'm old enough to have sat on a back child seat extension to one of these, with mum in the driving sea... saddle. No helmet. No kind of restraint. Ordinary clothing.
Most commonly going from Herne Hill to Addington Hills for a day {cough} out of London :bouncy:

I am old enough to have sat on the pillion of a Bonny (actually a modified 500 speed twin) doing the ton up the then unrestricted M1.

Yep, getting that here a lot too. Hitting refresh generally sorts with the next page load. Windows 10, Chrome.

I’m on iOS, it’s a nightmare tonight, posts disappearing, bad gateways, and this weird PHP thing.
No worries though, we’re lucky to have this place.

But is it the forum software, or is it the server/hosting?

Given that all my other regular websites are fine, and all the problems with the SOS website, they either have major hosting issues or the forum software can’t cope with the host software updates.

Looks like something needs to change quickly as it reflects badly against the magazine.
