Would anyone be able to tell me what chords I am playing?

Post by jtg423 »

Hello everyone,

I'm attempting to learn "Westside" by Keshi by ear on the guitar in an attempt to remake the whole production on my DAW and figured out the chord shape but not the chord name on the guitar. I've tuned down my guitar a whole step to match the one on the OG song. Here's the original song for reference: https://tinyurl.com/ye29k9ve

The song is in A major.

Here's the audio of me attempting the intro.

Could someone please tell me what chords I am playing and if they are the same ones from the original song?

I am just an old retired valve tech but...work out the notes you are playing for each chord then look them up on a chord chart?

Nice tune - was just having a quick listen then had to take a phone call, but it isn't that complex. If all else fails, just type 'chords to <<song name>>' into a search engine or just type it into YouTube

I thought it was G major. If the guitar is tuned down a tone the top two strings are A and D, and they are strummed throughout the intro.

I heard the basic underlying chords as

| G / / / | Gm / / / | D / / / | D7 / / / |

I think your interpretation sounds right.

Chords from the original sound like:
Gmaj7 Gm6 Dmaj7 D7

It's something like this :

Amaj9

Am6/9

Emaj7

E7

The names are for the fingerings in standard tuning. Take all the names down a tone for a guitar tuned to D.
