That does look pretty sweet! Even to someone with precisely zero use for one.

I cut my (digital) teeth on an M7, so have a lot of affection for Yamaha desks (even if I find the newer CL work flow slower than the m7, although that could be just a case of familiarity).
The DM7 split mode I find intriguing and baffling in equal parts. For broadcast I can see the use, but I can't imagine running one half of the console as FOH and the other as Mons.

It's intriguing to me too. Splitting for monitors when doing monitors from FOH is something I do all the time.
I usually do it on layers, effectively having separate channels for my FOH and monitors. Means I can do whatever i like to the FOH mix and not affect their monitors, and yet still have access to more EQ and dymanic control for monitors if needed. It's a slightly more labour intensive way of doing things, but does allow for far more flexibility in what you can achieve.
That said, I'm not sure I'd bother taking half my console away to do it, unless I had a second op to work it....and then I'd have to ask the question as to why we don't have a full split system when we've got the money for a second op....
