Parmit, while your story is very endearing, can I offer you just a wee bit of advice? You mention going to University, and having secured a little studio job - I would suggest in both these areas, learning how to spell, punctuate and phrase your sentences will help you equally as being able to make sik beatz!

I mean this with the best of intentions.

It might be of some use when writing essays, projects and dissertations for the aforementioned degree course.

Yes, but it's not a forum for angry teenagers! Try and make an effort, it's polite and you'll get a better response to your questions. The practice will no doubt benefit you in the real world as well.

That's a fair enough response, and one I half expected. I don't care one little bit, to be honest. But I've seen it happen so many times on this forum, where folk come in and ask a question, or post something, and it's littered with txt spk, and no-one takes it seriously.
The choice is yours.

parmit, I'm writing as a forum moderator. I'm sorry if you feel some of the regulars have been less than helpful, but they have a point. Just read pretty well any thread on this site and you will see that we don't do text-speak. We try to communicate with each other.

And having seen a hundred threads or more about people's aspirations at college/uni or whatever (and some of these regulars teach such courses and are part of the admissions process), I can assure you they are well intentioned in saying you probably need to use the rest of the world's preferred means of communication to maximise your own chances, because the rest of the world is not going to change for you.

There's no need for hostility (by anyone). But to the extent that there's a question in your OP - I'm not sure there is, strictly - it seems to be about going to uni to improve your skills.

Which is somewhat inviting people to make suggestions as to how you might best achieve that.

that's quite a good joke, actually ;)

you can have as much doo doo music as you like! :D

seriously, nobody's having a go at you - it's just that round here people prefer less text-ese. we all pick up on each other's typos just the same, so you're not being singled out here. hope you stick around and can learn as much as i have from here.

cheers!

What is amazing about Italians is that they speak their dialect (which is a different language) at home and among people from the same region and standard Italian to outsiders or foreigners. They have absolutely no difficulty doing this, it is normal for them.
Therefore just because you use text abbreviations only on a mobile you can still use standard English on a forum. It is not that difficult. Remember some people on this forum do not have English as a native language anyway.

I am going off-topic for one sentence; in Italy, Spain, France and Germany, speaking a language correctly is admired, in the U.K. it is seen as negative.

However Parmit, I have been to college and got a career and a life. You presumably want the same so get advice where you can find it, such as on this forum.

Hi P

Welcome to ere foruuuume.

I saw your post last nite, i personally thought it was quite cool.
I got the feeling that you were being light hearted and just wanted to genuinely findout about peoples stories
(& when needed you could write properly).

When we had an Off-Topic forum section, your post would have been ideal, we would have responded in similar text speak, welcomed you, had a laugh.

Sadly we no longer have an OT, on its day it was one of the best OT, built a wonderful feeling of community.

Anyhoo, best wishes with all your endeavours.

(I started out being trained in music grades whilst a 1st yr at school in the mid 80's...
Me Mom Gawwwwd bless Her, paid for my piano & violin music lessons ...
i am still as talentless now as i was then, though computers have helped me hide much of my inabilities & mistakes,
allowing me to make something resembling "music" :) )

No, you're absolutely right. And for my little jibe I apologise - I made a dangerous assumption from the way you speak (write), that you were a clueless 'producer'. Funny how a few words can change your perception, eh?
But therein lies the problem. To actually be an audio engineer takes years, and your initial enquiry about 'trying to do music as a carear' [sic] prompted my reply. You will need to be able to write and spell properly if you go to University - it's a fact.

Oh, and there weren't too many Public schools on my council estate! ;)

I never imagined that everyone here did. I went to Immingham comprehensive - so good they've closed it down now and given the premises to a bunch of bible bashers.

Still, now that you understand the conventions of this particular forum, perhaps we can have a sensible conversation.
