Old Focusrite Liquid mix 32 on Mac 10.5 hardware not recognised

Post by Nick Birkby »

Hi all.
Im trying to get a Liquid mix 32 up and running on a Mac 10.5 power pc. Ive installed all the right software from the Focusrite site for running on a Power PC Mac
It all installed fine, the unit powers up from the FW4000 bus but the the software is not seeing the unit.

So Im guessing, either a fault with the FW chip on the unit, which apparently happens. Or an issue with 10.5.8 software not recognising it.

Does anyone recall running one of these with 10.5 back in the day? Im really scratching my head on this one. Thanks so much!

I had one on a PC. On that you needed the full suite of Liquid Mix software to run it, not just the driver, which a lot of the update packages only had. When I changed PCs I had to search for an older bundle on the Focusrite site, and then update to the latest driver.

I’d imagine it would be similar for the Mac.

Reliably fallible.

Thanks for the quick reply.

Ive installed Liquid Mix 2.3.16 for Power PC and installed all the emulations. Program boots fine.

Ive looked on the Wayback Machine and cant see any other things except a snapshot library zip which I will try and add.

There does not seem to be a preference file for Liquid Mix in the prefences folder. I tried my luck and actually mailed Sintefex the co-developers to ask but no reply as of yet.

Following on, the Mac doesnt seem to be recognising it on the FW port, so Im wondering if something is a amiss there.
