ASIO4ALL problem

Post by Arraknid »

Can anyone explain why ASIO4ALL only works when Hardware Buffer is selected. If I deselect it, I get no sound.
I'm using Cubase 12 in Win11, with a Euphoria UMC22 audio interface.

Is there a particular reason why you are not using the Behringer ASIO drivers?

ASIO4ALL has a specific use, if you are trying to connect two or more different bits of ASIO hardware to your PC and want to combine all inputs and outputs, but all to often it is found to be buggy and with very poor latency. Best avoided if at all possible.

I'd recommend using the hardware vendor's dedicated ASIO drivers.

When I last checked there were no ASIO drivers for the UMC22 which is why I always recommend that people go for the UMC0202HD which is probably about the cheapest interface that is actually usable for music.

My set up worked perfectly for years on Win 10, it was only after I bought a new PC with Win 11 that this problem showed up.

I see the 'driver' listed for the UMC22 is just ASIO4ALL, whereas there is a proper driver for UMC202HD so I've ordered one and hopefully it'll solve the problem. I'll let you know.

ASIO4ALL creates more problems than it solves. I was wrestling with it for about 19 seconds earlier before I disabled it and plugged in a proper audio interface instead.

Shame, the UMC series are, err OK if you really can't afford anything better.

As I've said, I've used the UMC22 for years with Win 7 and 10, and was very happy with it, but this problem only reared its head when changing to Win 11.

If you read the comments on the UMC22 on the Behringer site, people are giving five star reviews (so people see them) but are saying it really doesn't work on Win 11.

You aren't alone.
