Round 1:
I think I built the A frames 1st, then added the bottom tier of bars at sitting height, followed by the other two tiers. bolts were just done up loosley.

Round 2:
get everything into proper position and tighten bolts.

Round 3: A few weeks later, after actually using synths on the rack, I had got a more exact idea of where I actually wanted the synths to sit and did a final adjustment accordingly.

To move the rack, I could now split it down to the 2 x A frames & 3 x tiers and the positions would be retained, so reassembly would be quick & easy.

Round 4: much later, I made a shelf out of ply wood, which allowed me to put a drum machine on the tier with the shortest keybed synth.

And the Jaspers/Thomann range is pricey, to say the least.
Didn't Hugh say they were quite wobbly?

I'm currently using tables and stacked guitar boxes for keys and guitar pedals, so yes, I'd like to hear some recommendations too.

I'm one of those people that believes you can only play "properly" sitting down, so any table will do for your instrument.
That's one of the criteria we used to audition keyboard players for our band, if they insisted on playing standing up they were immediately dismissed, just like bass players who put the bass under their armpits, no thanks.

In Primark they have sturdy metal large shoe racks on sturdy wheels.
Don't know their prices nor how easy difficult Keyboard Synths would be to operate when on the shelves of these large metal shoe racks.

You should lived in India or Pakistan or Bangladesh where the Classical musicians sit as do most musicians in a Western orchestra.
It wouldn't been anything to do with your level of musicianship, instead in those countries the Classical musicians would have looked towards your inwardness to sense if there was affinity as they approach their Classical music as sacred.

Some instruments have to stand up as in Double Bass.

Laying down is my preference. Keyboards fine for laying down as is Kalimba Thumb Piano, Balafon a kind of vibraphone, butt not Lyre, Guitar, so I sit on the floor Lyre, Guitar as close to my face as I can get.
Piano I prefer to place my face as close to the Keys as I can when I'm sitting at the Piano.

I think that music that relates to dance, needs a performing position that allows for movement.

Really good drummers move very little, preserving and focusing all of their energy and concentration on the hands and feet, there are no wasted movements.
And just like praying, sitting down to play allows one to give the music the attention it deserves, for some, anyway, that are gifted enough to make that connection.

Looks like difficulties using the Suez canal may be ramping up due to recent events in the middle east. The diversion to UK is round Cape Horn : + 2 weeks journey time with additional costs.

EDIT: Cape Good hope, close, only 1 continent away from Cape Horn

You naturally could attach the keyboard holders to one of their drum racks, something scooter have used for a while now.

Unless my browser won't display the site correctly there don't appear to be any BYO options? Since all the fittings look as though they are interchangeable with the Gibraltar range the keyboard holder section on top of a cymbal stand would appear to be the solution to my small keyboard stand requirements. However there doesn't appear to be any way of pricing this up and ordering it.

So you'd have sacked Jaco?

So, it’s the look that puts you off?

Nothing to do with talent or ability?

So, Rick Wakeman rocks up and you’re ’no mate, sorry, you don’t make the cut. ‘

Or, Mark King… ‘Oi, no!, don’t even plug that in!’

Or reason, or sense... same old same old from Tony.

Personally, I too prefer to play seated, but only if the 'any table' (and/or the chair/stool) are at exactly the right height!

Playing synths/pianos standing up works too if that's what is needed... but not the organ when pedals are involved!

Absolutely, they wouldn’t be suitable, of course. Just because they are who they are is irrelevant .

There's hostess tea trollies metal and wood. Would need to lob oorrff their handles. Or if find one where the handles are flat. They would only hold one Keyboard Synth. There would be racks underneath for our favourite tipple so that's a bonus lol.

I'm sure many folks 'round here have seen it, but it's one of my favorites and I couldn't resist the setup. ;)

It really is an important part of performance, being "...pushed over by the music," as he says. :D

I have a wooden display shelf 70inches tall with open side ends for every shelf that are 12inches clearance between each shelf : so can easily see screen twiddle dials slide gear into its 6 shelves from the open sides.
3rd 4th 5th shelves are easily playable reachable standing up for Keyboards Synths.
2nd 3rd 4th shelves are easily playable reachable sitting on a chair for Keyboards Synths, 1st shelf for Bass pedal Synth.

Only thing is the open side ends only have 11inches wide clearance so can't slide a lot of Keyboards Synths into its shelves. Would want at least 20inches ideally 24 inches wide clearance from the open sides so then can slide a lot of Keyboards Synths on to its shelves.
