Hi everyone,
I've downloaded the Steinberg Download Assistant to try the Cubase Elements 13 demo. I've installed the Cubase LE AI Elements 13.0.20 Application to my internal SSD. I'm wondering what I can put on my external SSD.
Am I right in assuming that the HALion Sonic 7.0.20 Instrument (814.75MB), and the Groove Agent SE 5.1.20 Instrument (171.35MB) both need to be on the internal drive? And everything else can go on the external?
And when I install everything on to the external drive, what folder do I have to create to put it in?
Thanks, Paul

It will certainly work doing it that way. I have a similar arrangement for the full version of Cubase. All samples and whatnot are on a separate storage drive. (I don't think this has special naming requirements. I just created a folder called 'Steinberg' and directed the installer there.)
There's a separate application called Library Manager that lets you move all the Steinberg content around easily after the fact. See here:

Hi Stuart,
Thanks for the link about the Library Manager.
Perhaps I should have phrased my question more simply in the first place:
Which parts of the installation need to be on the internal drive, and which on the external?
Cheers, Paul

I'm no expert. I can only speak from my own experience, but the way you expressed it in your opening post is how I'd do it. Cubase plus instruments on the internal drive and any content on an external drive.

The system drive is preferable for the instruments, yes, since it's usually the fastest drive in a system. It's when you start using large libraries you'll usually need to install them elsewhere otherwise you can run out of space, as you know! I note that Cubase Elements is advertised as coming with 20GB of sounds; presumably the "everything else" you mentioned?
If you record a lot of audio in your projects, using external storage (and making regular backups) is good practice, too.
