DAW faders linear or logarithmic?

Are DAW faders linear or logarithmic? I know that dB are logarithmic but I can’t get my head around faders. It seems that on analog mixers they are logarithmic but not on DAW?

They are linear, in that they physically move in a straight line.

They are logarithmic in that the distance vs audio signal voltage gain/attenuation alters in a logarithmic ratio.

DAW faders are designed precisely to emulate physical analogue/digital console faders in normal operations.

Though with some DAWs (e.g. Reaper) you can change that behaviour in the options.
Why you'd want to is a different question but... ;)

Yeah but! I find with some faders the movement speed is NOT linear with position. That is they seem to zoom out of control at extremes of travel.

My DAW faders default are dB for audio and 0-127 linear for MIDI
