Newbie, Looking for Input from more experienced people
Hi all,
Currently own a moog mother 32 and a make noise 0 coast. I am looking to add to this setup, wheter it is more synths, definitely drums and sequencer and I would assume mixer and decent speakers plus headphones but I do not want to use a daw or computer(currently)
Would also like to record and loop whatever patterns I may come up with.
Must admit that I impulse bought these synths without much understanding of synths in general so really am a noob looking to get into it as a hobby.
It's easy to get distracted watching YouTube videos , seeing all the amazing gear and then realising that I probably should have gotten something else.
Don't get me wrong, I love the two synths I have and hope people here could point me in the right direction to get started. I listen to a lot of house music , so this genre is something I would naturally gravitate towards but I am a fan of electronic music all around.
Would appreciate any input, thanks

Don't be dazzled by the candy, it'll just give you diabetes.
First: Sort out what you want to do.
Then: Buy carefully selected stuff that helps you do that thing.
Most importantly, it's not what you have, it's what you do with it.

Not sure why you don't want to use a DAW? Ableton + Garageband/Logic (especially on iOS) are really inexpensive and easy ways to record and loop. It's very accessible for beginners to get going and make stuff that gets you encouraged to keep playing around as a hobby. There are many two channel interfaces that are easy to use with your equipment as well, reviewed and talked about quite a bit on this forum and magazine.

No matter what type of music you want to pursue, I have a definite answer to your choice, I'd get a good "bread and butter" board, that can fill the holes in your current set-up, something like a Montage, Kronos, or cheaper equivalent depending on budget.
I'm into West Coast style left field, free-improv, mad Jazz, and I'm heavily into modular, but I bought a Yamaha MX61 recently and it's been a blast, not much money, but incredibly useful in complementing what I have.
Depends if you’re a "player" or not, or more into the knobs, but it’s worth thinking about.

Thanks for the advice , you're right it, seems I should be getting Ableton I'd imagine... I've been reading and for effects alone it would be worth it. I will look at some interfaces. I was also looking at mashine mk3? I think that would be a good addition

Have to stop watching them, I'm always wanting everything I see. I'll work on getting my little setup right. Thanks

If you select your audio interface or other hardware carefully, there is a good chance that you will get a free copy of Ableton Live Light with it. This is surprisingly good to start with, while you see if Ableton is for you.

Short answer - don't buy anything unless you know you want and/or need it.
I'm not into 'house', or indeed 'dance' music of any kind, but I would have thought that if you want to get into looping then an iPad with a cheap audio interface, Loopy Pro and a few free/cheap synths would be a good start down that road.

For loop based stuff
Beat Maker 3 on ipad pro is well worth a look.
There's Beats being sold for $K made on Beat Maker 3.
Look for ipad pro with usbC port from 2018 to now.
usbC port then it will run various usb audio Class Compliant MiDi keyboards, MiDi drum pads, audio interfaces.
usb audio Class Compliant means they will work just as is with ipad pro usbC port, plug n pay, no drivers : my Audient id4 mk2 audio interface is usb audio Class Compliant as is my MiDi keyboard M-Audio Oxygen mk3 and my Korg PadKontrol they all work plug n play as it with 2018 ipad pro usbC port.
usbC port also because don't need an adapter, which was is needed for lightning port.
Spend little on ipad pro with usbC port to see if it works for you. Look for 128GB 256GB storage.
I spent £60 on my ipad pro 2018 with usbC port as it has cracked screen which works fine from well known auction site.

Maybe! If you’re going the Ableton route I’d look at their specific Push hardware. There are plenty of secondhand deals to be had with that equipment too

I had this idea in my head that I didn't want computers but it seems pretty clear now that it's actually more suited for my current situation and need. I know my question was pretty vague but I have a direction that makes sense now at least, so thanks to all who took time to answer, Will definitely check out all suggestions and I will surely come up with even more ridiculous questions but at least they will be specific in future

Or alternatively, you could incorporate a set into your mix-up!

Hey, I'm back with some questions if you could give some advice. I've been reading and watching videos and currently purchasing (in basket) some gear. Wanted to ask before I pull the trigger.
I am going to buy ableton live 11 suite , which will allow me to upgrade for free to live 12, good deal id say. My computer is above average imo.... i7- 10700f cpu. Rtx 3060. 32gb ram not 3200mhz AFAIK, it could possibly be 2666mhz? Would this pose problems down the line? Easy upgrade I'd imagine.
500gb ssd and access to another 256gb just have to install. Do I need a soundcard? I don't even know where to start?
So I'm confusing myself a bit. I want to connect 0-Coast and mother32 to the computer , I have the midi cable adapters that came with the 0 coast. It's a jack that has midi connecter on the other end, And I think there is one with mother 32. There is also an adapter that has the jack and a instrument cable adapter on the end. But I also need midi cables that connect those to the interface yes? How many should I buy?
So my basket at the moment is as follows, Arturia keystep on offer looks like ill want a keyboard and this one seems reasonable... x3 1/4 inch instrument cables, focusrite Scarlett 4i4 USB audio interface
The interface will allow me to connect everything to the computer at once as far as i can see? I am also interested in the Push (it looks great) but will get that at a later date... Will this interface allow me to connect everything (including Push and headphones) at once? Even if it can't, it should be fine for my first setup I'd think? Until I learn more
Basically is there anything else (cables, headphones , adapters) I am missing? I spent a lot on both my synths and it seems only right to spend whatever is necessary to get them up and running. I hate to see them wasted.
Thanks
