Need Help with v1.10 Firmware update for Olympus LS-10. Can’t find it anywhere.
Re: Need Help with v1.10 Firmware update for Olympus LS-10. Can’t find it anywhere.
Yep, that’s what mine reads - LS-10S. And that’s also what I know, the only difference is what you get with recorder. Don’t think there were any hardware changes. Also firmware update websites doesn’t read separate model as LS10S, only LS-10. No idea why I can’t update it.

Could you advise how the updater app screen changed during update? Mine remains the same after connection, nothing happens.
Re: Need Help with v1.10 Firmware update for Olympus LS-10. Can’t find it anywhere.
The really annoying thing is version of my LS-10 is 1.00 and there were 1.03, 1.04, 1.10 and only then 1.20 and previous owner didn't care to update ever. I was hoping to find any of the versions hoping it would maybe help upgrading to 1.20 but no files are left in the internet. Pretty frustrating.
Re: Need Help with v1.10 Firmware update for Olympus LS-10. Can’t find it anywhere.
I checked Olumpus Japan firmware update sight again and for v1.20 firmware it reads:
<Target firmware version>
Ver: 1.03, 1.04, 1.10
So my assumption is it doesn't recognize mine because mine ise v1.00.
So I think I need to somehow update it to either of the Ver: 1.03, 1.04, 1.10 and then go to v1.20.
I can't believe a firmware update file can disappear from the internet. It should definitely be available somewhere, on some mirror server or on someone's computer or on the email. Bad luck so far I guess.

It is always possible that there are hardware differences between your machine and later models which means that the later firmware simply won't work on yours. I have one or two CD drives like this - although they were admittedly pre-production versions and marked as such.

Re: Need Help with v1.10 Firmware update for Olympus LS-10. Can’t find it anywhere.
I recently picked up a used Olympus LS-10 with v1.04 firmware and wanted to update to v1.10 to get around the 2gb filesize limit which caused the recorder to stop recording after 1hr and 2mins.
I located the relevant firmware update files on the Wayback Machine here:
But like the other users found, running the v1.10 update from Windows 10 failed with an error.
I managed to get this working by installing VMWare Workstation, installing a Windows XP Virtual Machine and running the firmware update from within the Virtual Machine when the LS-10 was attached and recognised by Windows XP.
The firmware update was then successful and my LS-10 is now running v1.10 with the additional sampling rates available and when tested it continues recording beyond 1hr 02 mins at 24-bit/96kHz.
Hope that this helps others as the firmware update took some locating.
I've failed to find v1.20 though as the links to Olympus Japan earlier in this thread no longer work.

Thanks for the link. Downloaded 1.04 and tried updating - same issue. I'm using same setup, VMware virtual machine with Windows XP installed. My previous issues were not an error message but nothing happening at all. Unfortunately same happened with version 1.04. USB settings on LS-10 is in "storage mode", I launch 1.04 updater then connect LS-10. Windows recognizes it, opens it's folders but updater does exactly nothing. Tried first connecting LS-10 and then launching updater, same result. This sux really, maybe I need 1.03 or some other earler version to try and update but no idea where to get it.
As for 1.20 I downloaded Mac and Windows updater from Olympus website, here are both files for you to try: https://fromsmash.com/LS-10-Firmware-120
Re: Need Help with v1.10 Firmware update for Olympus LS-10. Can’t find it anywhere.
I just noticed that for some reason my virtual machine creates two disks when LS-10 is connected, one is Removable Disc (F:) and another is LS-10 (E:). Could you check if it's the same with you? Maybe updater can't detect LS-10 because it shows as two discs. Thanks.

Mine does exactly the same, this is normal behaviour. One disc is the internal memory (2gb) in the LS-10 unit whilst the second disc is the installed SD card. If you remove the SD card then it should show up as one device only (LS-10).

I'm sorry that the earlier updates didn't work in your case, I'd hoped that the v1.04 might have been successful for you.
In my case, in Windows 10 the launcher recognised the LS-10 and correctly identified the existing firmware but then reported that the update was not successful and that the identified device could not be updated or something similar, the unit was then completely unresponsive not responding to any button presses or the power slider until I removed and re-inserted the batteries at which point it came back to life.
However, everything worked as it should in the Win XP virtual machine with VM Ware.
It does make me wonder whether there were internal changes to the later units which is why the update doesn't work with the original firmware.
Thanks for the v1.20 files, that has also run successfully, but this whole process has put me off looking for another old Olympus recorder, apart from an LS-10 as I now have firmware updates.
I really hope that you eventually get some success.

Thanks for update. My device is technically LS-10e whatever difference it makes. Also it has firmware version 1.00 and not 1.02 or anything else which other LS-10 seems to have from the factory. Maybe current v1.00 is the issue but then why wouldn’t update software not recognize the device.

All of the Links for v 1.20 seem to be dead... does anyone know of an active one or have the firmware updater? Mac preferred, but Windows Works too. Thanks!

Hello everyone,
Hopping onto this as I also got an LS-10 as a gift and have not managed to find the firmware link shared early for 1.20. Could someone help out?
Much appreciated

Is there a way to attach files to this message so they are accessible for download to anyone? It's not practical to upload same files every time through temporary cloud sharing websites.
Re: Need Help with v1.10 Firmware update for Olympus LS-10. Can’t find it anywhere.
Just upload once to Dropbox - 2.5 GB account is free - and leave them there. Paste a link here and the files should be around for as long as Dropbox is (I guess nothing is forever on the web, but I've had a free Dropbox account for years). If you already use Dropbox for other things, I think you could just create another free account using a different email.
