Electrovoice RE20

Thinking about getting one of these, as my vocalist is a bit on the unpredictable and aggressive side, regarding mic technique.
Owing to it's pop rejection, and minimal proximity effect, thought it may be a solution, anyone here tried one of these for vocals?

I've only personally used it on bass cabs, but have seen it in use plenty for vocalists and the capture sounds good to me!

Thom is a pretty erratic performer and vocalist, works great here!

I owned one, but found it beige in colour and sound (Synesthesia speaking).

Similar would be the Shure SM7 which I still have and enjoy! The provided foam pop sock is very effective and your vocalist, if they’re used to performing into a stage mic, can sit on the sock without too much proximity penalty.

Great studio clip there.
Sounds fine, might hire one.

It might be worth you trying to audition an Aston Element.
From the reviews I've seen and heard it has a lot of the same vibe as the SM7/RE20. But is amazing value.

I may be biased because I bought one, but I think it's actually amazing,

YMMV

I tried it once ages ago - didn't like it! Definitely beige! And a woolly beige at that - as is the SM7.

Give him/her/it/them an SM58 to scream into and place something more normal - a U87 or similar - about a foot or two away from all that screaming. You can use a little bit of the SM58 to give the whole shouting match 'presence' and the LDC for the body of the sound.

Hang on, a U87? an RE20? F**k that, I’ll just grab an SM57 and he can make the best of it.
I'm not worried about "body" and "presence" I've got way too much body as it is, and it's way too present.
