I can't get over how UDO manage to make something that sounds so warm, yet transparent without being clinical. It's obviously inspired in part by the Jupiter 6 and sounds beautiful when using the usual sine/saw/square/pulse/tri basics but the additions of user-loadable waveforms, Poly-AT and the ribbon are joyous.
It's Hydrasynth-like in its uncanny ability to make great patches with minimal effort and despite the lack of a screen (which I don't miss at all) I'm feeling quite at home with it already. It ships with 128 overwritable factory performance patches but patch slots 129-256 are empty, which is good to see.
The manual encourages the user to read it later, suggesting they dive in and start twiddling things. It's not wrong. I've yet to delve into the modulation matrix properly but I've already come up with a bunch of my own sounds and perhaps better still, a number of new ideas for the album I'm working on, some of which further material already in progress that got to a tricky point!
I’m sure you’ll love it. That set of dual layer controls no doubt invites a very particular kind of sound design. All of my polysynths can work in split/layer modes but… only ever one set of controls for both (or more) layers. So to get the layers to interact, you are flipping between them, and the knob/slider positions mean nothing. With two sets of controls, it would be a whole different experience, very much more inviting ,very much more… CS80…
Do let us know how you get on with this feature

Warm, transparent, clinical, joyous, beautiful.
Eddy, have you ever thought about doing Hi-Fi reviews?

Noooo! I couldn't afford the mains cables
A neighbour has asked me if I could look after his hi-fi as he hasn’t got room after taking it out of storage.
It's a high end system, but not my taste.
Snell speakers, massive Marantz power amps etc, and streaming stuff.
He told me the cables alone cost him five grand, this is going to be very interesting.
After managing not to buy any new synths for literally years,
I have finally been permitted to buy one... and I chose the UDO Super Gemini (Andertons' interest free credit is a great help )
I am now in a few days of excited limbo under it gets delivered.
One thing that really helped clinch the choice for me: the poly-aftertouch keyboard (and pitch ribbon): I reasoned that even though there were several other modern polysynths synths I was drooling over, none of them had polyAT on their own keyboards, but most most of them were also available as desktop modules that supported PolyAT over MIDI.
Well I'm having to wait a bit longer than expected because DPD are morons and delivered my synth to someone else's house.
At least they were kind enough to send me a photo of it dumped on someones' back doorstep and a GPS location allowing me to work out it was about a kilometre away.
Andertons are just off to smash their backside about a bit.
I MEAN WHAT IS THE MATTER WITH THIS COUNTRY, IT'S BLOODY WILSON?!?!?
Maddening isn't it. I had to call round on the next door neighbour earlier to collect a parcel that FedEx had foisted on them. Pretend to be cheerful and friendly etc.

I mean it's irritating enough when it's just a DVD or some new socks, but 3½ grand's worth of synthesizer is taking the bloody piss.
Oh. That's just ....
Although I used DippyD in the past to send stuff. Today I collected a Presonus MiDi controller from Argoose as I just didn't want to rely on DippyD to deliver it to the correct flat I reside in.
I choose a known drop oorrff collection point for nearly every delivery. Only royal mail and parcel farce have delivered correctly in the 3 years I been here so when I know it's them then I choose the flat.
About a week ago I ordered some small items (worth about £15 in total) for a friend of mine, and then got an email a couple of days later saying the parcel had been delivered successfully. It hadn't.
We waited another couple of days (just in case of mistakes) and sure enough she then got a text message saying her parcel would be delivered the next day between 10am and 11am (or similar), followed by another email to me and text to her claiming successful delivery. Still no sign of it.
I complained to the company I'd ordered from, who made us sign a form confirming our version of events (in case the police got involved!!!) and guaranteeing to let them know IMMEDIATELY if the missing parcel ever turned it.
They then sent a replacement, addressed identically, which arrived safely 24 hours later using the same courier.
