Akai MPC Key 37

This looks COOL, very cool.
As I continue my search for the ultimate bed-ridden old person’s workstation, this seems like it could be the best solution so far.
Full size keys, loads of great sounds and FX, PLUS! a total of 8 CV I/O, and Midi DIN sockets.
It’s also a sampler.
Only issue is it's not cheap, so needs thinking about.
SOS checked it out here,

It does look pretty good, I like that the design harkens back to the rare VX-600 synth from the 80s (and the unreleased X3700 sampler). I'm not a huge fan of having to buy plugins on top of buying the hardware, but I'm kind of old fashioned about that.

As far as the price goes, I would be surprised if it doesn't drop significantly pretty quickly. The Key 61 went on sale at $1700 and is now $1500 or less in the US and Thomann has them at $1169 before VAT.

It is cool, I’ll wait till it gets cheaper.

I had Akai Mpc Touch which is pretty much this Akai Mpc37 : same OS same DAW same same 7inch touchscreen pads, similar buttons.
Touch doesn't have keyboard and needs to be connected to computer.
I just couldn't get my head aroond it. Beat makerz on utube doddle for them as Akai buttons workflow DAW is geared for looping bars to make a Beat.
I don't do looping I noodle as long as it takes : so Akai Mpc didn't suit my noodles lol also I found the buttons workflow confusing.
Akai DAW free to try.

Just seen something this saturday.
Armenian Pianist Tigran Hamasyan performing outdoors with battery powered Casio Sa77 mini keys 4octaves with Bassist and Drummer.

I've got Casio Sa50 just less octaves 3, 100 useable sounds including percussion also ofcourse utter doddle. I'm miles behind Tigran.
I could put Casio Sa50 thru a Boss Micro BR portacapture almost size of a deck of cards.
2007 glowing review by Paul.
https://www.soundonsound.com/reviews/boss-micro-br
Micro BR has on board fx amp sims drums, instrument Guitar input, built in microphone, records to 4tracks + virtual and bounce down higher quality mp3, has some mixdown mastering tools, SD card port.
I've put a pony bid for Micro BR.

Both I could take to bed with me  my Casio is on my bed seemingly semi permanently.

Akai Mpc37 not battery powered.
Doesn't have Xlr nor Guitar instrument in.
Just 2GB Ram its not 2004 its 2024 dawwwg.
Have to save to sd card which is fine or usb flash drive I have lost misplaced every time every usb flash drive.
It's a Mpc One+ £579 with a £50 keyboard : Mpc37 currently £769 is £140 overpriced reckon.
