How can I get Waves off my Mac?

Post by Gone To Lunch »

I have a problem with Waves plugins. I downloaded a free trial version, but their installer put their entire product range on my Mac, and now I get so many options when using an insert, that it is difficult to use.

How can I get these unwanted trial versions of my Mac?

You should be able to uninstall whatever you don't want using their installer.

Run Waves Central. You can choose to uninstall from the Settings cog, IIRC.

You should also be able to hide the plugins you don't want to see in your DAW, if that's an option for you.

Thanks, that fixed it.

I had to uninstall everything and then re-install the few that I wanted to use.

So Waves wasted a couple of my hours by loading me up with trial instances I didn't want...

Yes, that's the way it's done. Load you up with everything because it's just too damn hard to write programs that read licenses. I hated Waves, invested in Universal Audio instead and will never download another software update from them again for exactly this reason. It's simple mediocre managers off shoring costs onto consumers.

Besides, everyone should kowtow to the lords of Tech. It's what progress is all about dontcha know?

There's still a lot of hate around for Waves I know, but did you mean that UA download trial software when updating? I know that IK Multimedia certainly do that, for example.

As a long-time Waves user, I just update the software I own. I never get any unwanted trial software that I don't own installed onto my system, and never have.

Yeah, I just install the waves plugs that I actually own...and use. It's only 3. I use SSL and a couple of others these days.
