How I Made A Track Using Only AI

Post by Forum Admin »

Proving what I thought would happen with AI music tools and music production, this YouTube video is well worth watching in full to find out what AI is capable of with human guidance:

Very little as far as I could see from that video.

There was no indication of where the basic chords, rhythm and structure for the track came so I assume that was not AI produced. Similarly the AI generated vocal melodies were ultimately rejected in favour of one that he sang. Even getting the vocals to sound like Dua Lipa only worked when the original ones were reasonably close.

Yeah the title is misleading - he definitely didn't make a track using only AI. But I found it interesting to see what some of the limitations actually are.

On my Electronica albuume 5 out of 10 tunes (cats) could prolly been done by eh eye right now. I will just pretend I did them in the nougthies 00.

I wrote on Rich's thread it may well make composers songwriters more inventive to distinguish their stuff from eh eye. Already I consider which of my stuff might sound as eh eye so I'm doing stuff which won't fingers crossed.

JmJarre's Zoolook albuume : eh eye couldn't do this Zoolook is way too inventive. However eh eye could do Switched on Bach using softsynths as it's a straightforward score. However eh eye couldn't do Wendy Carlos' Sonic Seasonings as it's too inventive.
I've heard a world class album done by a foruume n chums recently which eh eye couldn't do : this albuume is inventive has lots of interesting stuff.
I've heard stuff on Self Promo foruume which eh eye couldn't have done.

When it's just a straightforward track as is this bog standard EDM with Dua Lipa style vocals it's easier for eh eye.
Similar for most genres from Classical to Jazz to Blues Country Funk Rock HipHop Filum Metal Electronica : eh eye will be able to these in bog standard styles.
Already there's examples of bog standard Classical Jazz that eh eye has done.
Already there's genres as some Filum music where the genre is just block string chords and or chugging ostinatos with a few notes of piano cello or some other instruments scattered around : easy for eh eye to do now.
ChillHop just sticking a beat on an instrumental eh eye could do readily.

However when there's inventiveness in these styles eh eye will have a harder thyme.

Also if we are not a famouse singer : then our voice will always be a distinguising factor.

Soon enuff we will be able to make eh eye do just by typing a request : make a Baroque tune played in the style of Django; make a DoomMetal song sung in the style of Aretha Franklin; make a EDM song in Skrillex style with Smokey Robinson vocal: make a Folk song in the style of Slipknot lol.

That's been possible for a while now, using Text-based prompts; it's what ChatGPT does well for text-based stuff -- ie. Write me a rhyming couplet in the style of William Shakespeare... etc.
