Spotify sound quality
Spotify sound quality
My new album - "Here I Stand" was released today. I was listening to it on Ditto and it sounded good. I then listened to it on Spotify and it sounds all muffled? Has anyone else noticed this with their tracks?

Hmmm. I notice the lossy-ness of the audio if I listen for it but it never comes across as 'muffled' to me.
Have you tried it on a lossless service like Tidal to compare?

What Integrated LUFS value was it mastered to before it was submitted for streaming?

Re: Spotify sound quality
Muffled is an unusual complaint, and implies a loss of top end. I'd suggest the most likely reason for that is comb-filtering related to listening to a stereo mix in mono?

The spotify free webplayer is AAC 128kbit/s, so you should hear some change, but all muffled sounds like something went wrong. Do you have another upload of your song to compare?

Re: Spotify sound quality
Tidal has a free trial period so if you're still concerned about it try there.
That'll tell you if it's a compression effect or if there was a problem in the upload.

Yes, it must be the compression, thanks.

Apple Music is lossless. So you should be able to do a side-by side comparison.,
