Universal Audio Plugs and Windows 10

Post by amanise »

Anyone else suddenly started getting problems with UAD plugins over the last week or so on W10? All 3 of mine refused to go past the blurry startup screen, and killing my DAW, the other day reporting they needed upgrading. Did that and now they work, but just hang the DAW leaving it in playback for all eternity until I kill it off.

Some details: running as VST3s, Perfect Plate, Waterfall Rotary Speaker, Teletronix LA-2A Leveler, all doing the same thing. DAW is ACID Pro 10 - but they were working very well. I know this isn't on the supported list though.

It might be a sign...

All okay here. So what did you change? Windows update? Have you reinstalled? UA Connect updated?

I only updated the plugs which had stopped working due to needing to be updated. First time I've seen them do that. So I ran UA Connect, which confirmed the update was required. They all updated fine, but back in the DAW, although they got past the blurry startup screens and seemed to be working, they seem to lock the DAW in playback mode and it then has to be killed off. Previously, this only happened with project that had about 40 tracks and many plugin instances. Now it's right away with just a single track and instance.

I think BWC is correct, I now really have to change DAWs, so reluctantly will be moving to Reaper. I have 2 more tracks to do to finish the current project and then I'll migrate over Christmas. I can just use my Dear Reality stuff until then and keep the last two simple.

Very curious. Tried installing them on my laptop for the first time today in preparation for using that as a migration platform.

Installed iLok, UAConnect, and the three plugs. Ran up ACID and added 3 tracks with the same audio one-shot in each. Assigned each plug to one of the tracks. All worked fine, individually and together.

Returned to DAW, and ran up UAConnect - which reported new upgrades to each plug. Installed them. Did the same test as on laptop using the same audio. All working fine now.

Weird.
