Eyam - nearly finished version

Post by RichardT »

Here's a nearly finished version of a mockup of 'Eyam'. I'm happy with it apart from the tempo, which I might take down a notch. Interestingly, it sounds better at a higher tempo at high resolution, and not so good on Soundcloud. I've added more dynamics, phrasing, solo parts and developed some of the non-melody parts a little.

I hope you enjoy it! if you want to listen in hi-res, it's downloadable.

Lovely.

Eyam (the place) holds a special place in my heart, so particularly poignant for me.

Seemingly no longer an 'elderly'.
Now a 'Senior'. Is that promotion?

Much admiration for this, well done. Do you ever submit your work to Radio 3?

I have returned to listening to Radio 3, and they play such a wide range of music, it rwally has been a pleasant re-discovery. I suppose the way to get past the first portal is to look at programme websites and try and get the names of producers etc, I know there is the BBC Introducing option but that seems to be a somewhat narrow focus, wide ranging in the 'pop' world but beyond that I am not sure they consider that

Classical is an option in the genre category selection...

Great, if Bobbins is an option too then I am in with a chance

2min27sec-3min57sec 5min01sec-6min17sec the uplifting tinged with melancholy.

Which MiDi controllers are you playing Rich to give movement to the Strings.

I've been on a Korg NanoKey2 for most of the stuff I do, I must admit it doesn't give movement to Strings.
Christian Henson on a vid was using Korg NanoKontrol2 to give movement to Strings. I never considered this before, considering relative affordability of NanoKontrol2.

Hi T42 - I'm using Dorico to write the notation for the music. The playback software (Noteperformer) interprets the phrasing, articulations and dynamics in the score and converts them automatically to patch and parameter changes for the sample library (BBCSO core). So, luckily, I don't need to get involved in any keyswitching or controller automation. It's a relief I can tell you after doing that in Cubase for many years!

Unfortunately Noteperformer only works with Dorico, Finale and Sibelius.

What I'm hoping for is a 'Dorico' VST that I can run in a DAW so I can mix notated elements with recorded elements. So for example I could write a score for a string section in Dorico, point the Dorico VST at it in Cubase and have playback synced with the DAW tempo. But it's not here yet, if it ever comes.
