Hardware equivalent to Logic’s chord trigger?

Post by MarkOne »

Anyone know of there’s anny little gadget out there that allows you to program or play in complex chords that get triggered when you play a single note on a Midi controller?

I use chord trigger in MainStage all the time live, but I’d love to be able to replicate this in a hardware unit.

Novation LaunchPad Pro Mk3 has a chord mode.

There are also various iPad software solutions, I believe.

Hydrasynth also has chord mode.

I’ll have to see what the launch pad can actually do with a hardware keyboard (I thought it needed Ableton).

I got briefly excited by the keystep, but reading the manual, it stores one chord and plays the same chord transposing it to the note you play and I’m needing to define a chord per note.

Hydrasynth is still on my to-get list, but I’m about to make the big 2024 acquisition of a Nord Stage.

Midihub looks like it’s got a chord function but I need to look into it in more detail

waldorf and Oberhiem, eg, used to do MIDI manipulators but its abit old hat for hardware thesedays and can be done easily on a PC [even excell spreadsheet can manipulate midi !], other apps are available.

The Kurzweil workstations can do it by assigning a RIFF to a key but otherwise why not trigger a sample from a key ?

Yes!

That's the obvious solution. Thanks!
