Re: Album
I really quite liked the three mast schooner. Had hints of Bach in there. Melancholic but engaging. That piano sounds like it’s going through an old TEAC. Suits the song though. No playing to grid on this album.
Nice one.

Re: Album
That was a very pleasant morning spent listening to 'Lost' after topping and tailing a couple of my own donations to the SOS charity album.
'Lost' had the opposite effect and re-centred me after addling myself with my own sonic vandalism. Now nestling nicely in my music library for future dosing.
Cheers for that one Tony! Do another one now!

Re: Album
You’ve got it, the Art Of Fugue, is always lurking subliminally somewhere in my mind, along with the sound of a cathedral choir, they aren’t obvious, but they are always on my shoulder, guiding me.
Yes, lots of Shallow Water pedal on this album, and my MX61 is the star.

Thank you kindly sir, your support is much appreciated.

Re: Album
Thanks Will, strangely, it’s the one I thought about not including, but on reflection, it's not really similar to a lot in that style, there's a fair bit of serendipity in that track, that I didn’t think would work, but it seems to.

Re: Album
Some good stuff there. At night time, after 10:00pm more often than not when the day is done I listen to Radio 3, in particular Night Tracks and they play stuff that might include some music similarish to yours, and if looking for explosure you might be inclined to send some of your work to the producers, or BBC INtroducing?
Re: Album
Have only been able to listen to a few bits so far, but everything I have heard I have really enjoyed. Will definitely listen properly in the next few days.

I've never liked a solo violin, you need at least five for a proper fire.

Enjoying very much the relaxing feeling your music gives me, Arpangel. Thank you for writing, performing, and releasing!

Re: Album
I'm always surprised at the surface texture of my music, which you can take at face value if you want to, but it's bitter/sweet, and it's finding a balance and setting the stage sonically, that always causes me big trouble. The vocal pieces for instance, they are meant to be almost a joke sonically, but they aren’t a joke at all.
I am surprised at how calm and relaxing sometimes my music turns out, but it is what it is.

Found time to listen to the rest. Quite a mixture. Most, I really like, but a few that are 'interesting' but not really for me.

Seemingly no longer an 'elderly'.
Now a 'Senior'. Is that promotion?

Re: Album
It's a dilemma, sometimes, deciding on a theme or a feel for a whole album, which I don’t like doing, and I don’t like listening to albums that are all one vibe.
The danger is you alienate those that like say, just the piano pieces, and don’t like the abstract synth stuff, just as an example.
I don't like putting the cursor down anywhere on an album, and hearing the same overall texture.
Also, all of my albums are "as composed" chronologically, everything gets included purely on a chronological basis, rather than a thematic one, a prime example of this is "The End Of The World"
My next album is going to be entirely abstract synth, so I'm breaking my routine, it's going to be a no-holds-barred noise-fest that will truly reflect how I’m feeling about this strange place we live in, it's me entirely as an observer, just make sure you wear a Hazmat suit before listening, the spirit of Peter Brotzman will be looking over my shoulder.
And like Peter, or anyone else, my music will have even less of an effect than a butterfly flapping it's wings etc.

Finally got round to listening and I liked it a lot. I don't much like predictability and your album is anything but - so perfect!

Thanks Bob, the most difficult decision was to include some "vocal" pieces, it’s obvious I’m not a singer, a conventional vocalist, they are more like vocalisations, and my voice, by my own admission, sounds very immature, and "ordinary" but I had no choice but to go with it, and sort of play up to it.
I see no reason not to vocalise, lets put it like that.

Isn't it more to do with context than expectation? I thought your voice was fine within the bounds of the sonic landscape you presented. It is your voice, it is your music..... end of story.

Yes, absolutely, although, I'd love to have had Richard Burton do it, if he was still alive.

Re: Album
I was as this nearly 3decades with regards to my own music resulting in hardly any completed pieces in these nearly 3decades just bits n bobs of ideas resulting in lots of dissatisfaction with my self.
I gave up making music nearly a decade december 2010-2019 august although I tried in between, because of realisation I was useless also partially because what I was doing had been done untold times, was samey, predictable, no matter wrapping I packaged them in.
"It's like a finger pointing away to the moon. Don't concentrate on the finger or you will miss all that heavenly glory." Bruce Lee.
The finger is wanting our music to be different.
The finger is "predictability" wanting our music to be unpredictable.
The finger is "deciding on a theme or a feel for a whole album, which I don’t like doing, and I don’t like listening to albums that are all one vibe."
There's more that is the finger.
The Moon is the composition.

It is also to realise we don't have even an iota of originality. All originality is derived from our Origin : for whom we are all biological conduits.
::
Because of these realisations the Moon and our Origin, I have somehow churned out 9 albums from lockdown till now 40mins-50mins per album, 10 tracks per album, each album a different style. Utterly content with what is pouring out through my fingers.

As musicians, we can never really hear what we do, never, like an unconnected listener can. And we will always be anxious, insecure, and unsure of what we do. If you’re not, somethings wrong.
