I need help!
Before I shutdown my computer I turn off the both Quantums using the front power buttons…I then shut down my pc. The issue is my PC won’t power off. I have to press and hold the computer power button to power off. When I reboot and just power the master Quantum on and leave the slave Quantum off, do some work….then turn off the master Quantum and shut down the computer shuts down and powers off.
It’s like the daisy chained quantum is preventing the pc powering off in shutdown. I need help as I’m out of ideas…it’s incredibly annoying to have to hold my power button down on the PC to power it off…I have lastest bios and latest build of windows 11 pro.
So to summarise.
1:Master Quantum powered on then powered off PC shuts down and powers off.
2:Both Quantums powered on then powered off PC shuts down but does NOT power off
I’ve tried turning the slave off first then the master…I’ve tried turning off the master first then the slave before shutdown and the pc won’t power off…The only time I get expected shutdown and computer power off behaviour is when only a single quantum the master is powered on after a reboot.
Thanks!
PC will not power off with 2 x Quantums connected

What happens if you let the PC shut down before you turn off the Quantums? Does the PC shut down successfully?

Never thought of trying it….just got home to try it….left the Quantums Powered on and shut down…PC powered off!
Quantum’s lights when from blue to red and I just powered them off after the PC powered off…
Thankyou…it’s goes against my instinct to power off connected stuff after shut down…but if it’s doing sound nay harm I guess it’s a solution to my problem…

That's the way I always do it - power up peripherals first so that they are ready to go when the computer boots and then power them down with the rest of the studio gear after the computer has shut down.

I sort of thought it was a FILO situation, First In, Last Out, so I switch my synths on, audio interface and any external drives I anticipate using.
And as Windows closes dowm it sort of gathers up info to do as best it can to remember its last state.
However, I have had a couple of drives, including USB keys where the PIC won't boot if they are connected, other drives can be connected and the PC boots without issue.
If I do turn a connected drive off, I use the "Eject device" option, I think that sort of tidies things up, yes we might not be using the drive at that point but the operating system still 'polls' the system to see what's connected and the current state noted instead of something just being wazzed out and thus avoiding early withdrawl symptoms!

That's the correct way, otherwise you're asking the computer to deal with the disconnection of devices, which is not Windows strong point!
