I’ve had an intermittent problem using the Outlook app to access email addresses from the outlook.com domain, but now it’s become intolerable.
I’m using Windows 10 Pro with the Outlook app that comes with Office 365.
I’m aware that there are very recent changes that might cause issues when accessing outlook.com emails via Android etc.
But things are still working fine on my Android phone, but Outlook can’t access one of my important outlook.com addresses at all.
Anyone found a general solution or one that relates to recent changes?
I do intend migrating away from outlook.com addresses and Outlook in the future.
But that’s a lot of work for another time.
Outlook app on Windows can't access outlook.com emails

Sounds like it might be a configuration issue. Frustratingly the O365 apps don't give you the full features of the desktop apps so you might not be able to access the areas you need.

I have the full desktop app installed under Windows 10.

Ok, I'd definitely start by using that for any configuration work then. But without being able to see your screens it's almost impossible to diagnose this stuff.
What have Microsoft support said?

Re: Outlook app on Windows can't access outlook.com emails
I abandoned Outlook some time ago because of it being flakey. I went over to Thunderbird mail client, but accessing outlook.com and it was fine, for a while, then it went wrong.
The issue is, outlook mail accounts are going over to Oauth2 validation and older mail clients won’t work. I updated to the latest version of Thunderbird and sure enough the server settings were updated to OAuth2 and all is working fine. All I needed for my outlook.com accounts was user I’d and passwords and Thunderbird did the rest. Outlook mail client will do the same with the latest version of Outlook

Thanks.
I was planning on dumping Outlook next year or so but I might well do so now.
Will also migrate away from outlook.com addresses which have been annoying due to terrible spam handling, which you can't disable.
MS used to be reliable and boring which was a nice combination.

I was thinking of making use of the 'free' Outlook that comes with Win11, but I get the distinct feeling MS will use it as a gateway drug that will entice one to sign up for Office365 and they way MS just dumps products willy-nilly is disconcerting eg Outlook Express, great little app. Then there was the mail client that came with Win7, but it was a pig of a job trying to get get stuff shipped across from Outlook Express. Then due to my work I was able to buy Microsoft Office at a discount, so I bought into Outlook. A product I was perfectly happy with.
But that too was reluctant to import data from other clients, even Winmail! Anyway, I continued ot use MS Office and update as and when, until I got to the point where MS Officve became too bloated and more unfamiliar, the existing version I had was perfectly adequate, and I used Outlook a lot, building up a large contacts database, along with other functions of Outlook.
Then I find it won't work because of this OAuth2 issue. Try as I might, I tried various workarounds, sometimes they would work, then not. Then I discovered Thunderbird - installed the portable version, added an account ( outlook.com account) and bingo - it worked! I have stress tested it and used it for about 6 months now - and it just works, and it also works with my btinternet mail, which was also cranky, now it works fine.
Best thing about Thunderbird, I can back the lot up, that's 4 accounts I have, in a jiffy
Thanks Mozilla, and I will make a donation once your requests for donations are less intrusive.
Re: Outlook app on Windows can't access outlook.com emails
I have got my 4 accounts working again in Outlook but it's not good.
No single inbox, at least by default!
4 separate PST files squirreled away and seemingly not at a user chosen location!
Rather than waste more time on this nonsense, I will look elsewhere.
Agh, the secret is the portable version I suspect.
Got off to a bad start
Stop making excuses!

Re: Outlook app on Windows can't access outlook.com emails
As the Crow flies, they are, if memory serves me right.....in the C:\users\username\Documents\Outlook Files folder or in Outlook, select File/Account Settings then the DATA tab and it'll show where the files are
Re: Outlook app on Windows can't access outlook.com emails
Thanks again.
I had found the location easily enough and had to add it to my daily backup folder list.
In the meantime, I will check if the PST files are still portable.
