Lyrics:
I used to fall asleep in lectures
When they’d talk in that monotone
Topics of academic nature
Five seconds flat, and I'd be gone
I used to feel so guilty
I used to feel so bad
For snoozing while some poor joker
Lectured the class
Singing Rock-a-bye baby
Rock-a-bye baby
I’d be snoring right there
louder than the man on the stage
Went to the Royal College website
To try to listen in again
When I woke up six hours later
Strange voices ringing in my head
I didn’t retain anything
I didn’t understand
When the man start talking
My cradle start rocking again
Singing Rock-a-bye baby
Rock-a-bye baby
So I played it that night and
I was out like a light again…
Now you don't need no prescription
It ain’t like drugs or like drink
There ain’t no risk of addiction
You won't remember a thing
Search high and low on college campus
Your local bookshop, go online
Find talks that make your eyes glaze over
Most boring lectures you can find
Set them to rock you gently
And float up to the stars
But no - not when you’re driving in your car!!!
Singing Rock-a-bye baby
Rock-a-bye baby
Till we meet again Rest in peace my friend
Down will come baby cradle and all

That’s great, you’ve got a superb voice, no issues at all, can’t help thinking you’ve found a niche there, that needs further exploiting, in a more edgy way.

I have to admit Rock a By didn’t tickle my fancy, simply not my kind of song, but had a notion I was listening to a more than capable performer and so had a look round on YouTube and glad I did. listening to your other stuff on YouTube confirmed that. You have some good stuff and very well performed. Additionally I really like some of the guitar arrangements, Good stuff exquisitely performed.
Re: 'Rock-a-Bye Baby'
Thanks, chaps for your kind comments. I'm very much an amateur - just have a little bit more time lately to play music, now that I’m retired.
The horns: selected a brass patch in logic and used an M-Audio mk3 61 keyboard. I’m not much of a keyboardist and I would struggle with piano playing in real time. Brass parts however, often involve single note lines and are much easier to play in real time (recording into midi of course, and still able to edit subsequently, to taste).
Pretty much everything I know about recording and mixing music I learnt here on this forum from many of you knowledgeable people. Thank you.
