Two Resolutions

Post by RichardT »

My piece 'Two Resolutions' is pretty much finalised now. It's been reviewed again by a professional string player and conductor, and I've edited it to bring it up to scratch and to make some musical improvements. I've nearly finished the last step, which is a piano reduction, and then that's it for now!

I've added a new movement to the piece called 'Remembrance'.

Here's a Soundcloud link if anyone would like to listen.

Eight minutes long, and one knows it's going to be warm within the first minute. Then it pretends it's going to be grand, but morphs into serene and at the halfway mark, there's a divine swirl. I didn't experience one resolution, let alone two, though. But the liner notes sorted that out. Had a bit of a singalong. Good music, Richard.

And that's just the first tune.

I bow down before your superior biscuitular capacity.

Still amazing! Even without guitar solos

I keep thinking a couple of pieces should go on BBC Introducing in the hopes that it might get taken up by 'Mindfulness Mix' or 'Night Tracks'. Something like that. But, I have no idea how new Classical stuff gets taken up at all.

Epic output for the months you've been engaged in it. I really hope something comes of it.

Wow - that's just beautiful Rich, even in this 'mockup' form (your description, not mine - it stands as it is for me)

Seemingly no longer an 'elderly'.
Now a 'Senior'. Is that promotion?

I took a month off (partly due to not feeling well) and came back to this with fresh ears.

A lot has changed. There are two new movements, and I've made significant improvements to most of the others. I've added solo voices in a few places (they have a few tuning issues!).

I've also made big improvements to the rendering in Dorico, and also finalised things in Cubase, which has much more powerful editing, automation and mixing facilities than Dorico.

I'll take another month off now, and come back to it again. This will give me an opportunity to listen to other people's self-promotion tracks which I've neglected.

If anyone would like to listen to any of it, here's a link:

If anyone would like to listen at CD quality, PM me, and I'll arrange it.

Hi Richard, tried a PM but for some reason it wouldn't work. Can I get the CD quality link by some means please? If you try PMing me - that might work better?
Cheers

Thanks Adrian, I've attempted to send you a PM...

It's probably best to download the files (which you can for the whole folder in one go).

The dynamic range is extremely wide, so you'll need to adjust the volume from time to time!

Yep - got that, and it let me reply - so I've no idea what was going on earlier. A proper bit of set aside time coming up for that methinks

I edited my earlier post - but you replied first, so in case you missed it:

No - it's no good Rich - you haven't knackered it up yet. Still brilliant!
:clap::thumbup::clap:

There's a young slip of a thing calling herself AfroDeutsche (or something) who plays this kind of thing on BBC R3u you know... She gets it all in from BBC Introducing and does whole shows of it.

Just sayin'
