Does the Fractal device have anything like The Helix's massively useful "Set List" facility which allows you to rearrange the order of your presets without needing to copy and paste and potentially overwrite something that you wanted to keep?

That's just it, I don’t know!

you can copy them into an easily accessible bank/user memory

Yes, good idea, that's how I normally work.

I’m not sure I know what you mean by that - you can swap the locations of presets and snapshots really easily but I just tend to back up the unit regularly, and mostly program it from my computer.

The unit that has =really= good set list facilities is the Fender Tonemaster Pro. I was dead impressed with it when I played around with Wonks’ TMP.

That's not complexity, then - that's just the unknown. If you were interest enough it would be a good idea to take a look at the manual Wonks linked to.

I think you’ve pushed me into a corner to admit that I’m not that interested!
Anything that has that amount of options etc is not for me, those days are long passed when I actually "loved" exploring these things, now, it’s unthinkable.

Wow! Now to me *that* is complex (at least that whole Buchla-esque 'not a clue what's going on' cabinet is)!!!

Not the same thing though, one knob/button per function, no hidden menus.
Don Buchla had his own ideas about terminology, ergonomics, basically, he didn’t want to guide you in a fixed direction, he chose names for things that were very personal as "ultimately" these things don’t matter, he wanted you to go on a mysterious journey, sometimes without knowing exactly what things do, Make Noise adopt a similar philosophy, the labelling on my Make Noise modules is still a mystery sometimes, but that doesn’t stop me from going down interesting roads sonically, I just let my ears guid me.
Buchla is just that, let your ears guide you, my partner knows nothing about synthesisers, she loves my Buchla stuff, I can hear her laughing at the other end of the house, but she doesn’t really know whats happening, Don would love that.
But, it does reward familiarity, you get to know "where it's at" you feel around, it's the only way to get to know this stuff IMO, it's only when you don’t have it that you realise how unique and sonically versatile it really is, it's also very dense, in its functionality, it packs a lot in, but not at the expense of usability and ease of use.
