Need recommendations for mixing engineer for full band with horns

Post by fuadramsey »

I'm looking for a mixing engineer to complete our album. We're a funky jazzy band similar to Greyboy Allstars with a little Galactic feel maybe. -dig their recordings too.

It'd be nice to find someone to mix in SoCal, but we're entertaining remote work. Any recommendations? Our budget is in the $350 per song range. 10 songs.

We're a 7 piece band: drums, bass, guitar, Hammond B3, bari, tenor, trumpet. We are local and don't make anything playing so obviously

Hi there,

A few of us here do audio work for a living, including mixing, so I might as well be the first to throw my name in!

Feel free to send a DM if you want.

Happy to take a listen, if you have some roughs and examples of where you're aiming. If I feel I'm right for it we can discuss.

It would definitely be remote! :D

Not sure if you have the mastering of said album arranged but leave a little for that as well by someone who did not mix it.

I still have my Greyboy Allstars T-shirt from one of their London gigs in the 90s.

I'd be happy to do this remotely - DM me if interested.

And I'd echo Barry's suggestion of keeping some money back for a separate mastering engineer - I much prefer too keep the two jobs separate.

I'd dig hearing mixes from Aled, Elf, JP, Wonk's chum. For just one song. Hearing where the mixes are similar, different. Reading about choices made during mixing.

If possible, strong plus 1 on TFT's comment!
